Thanks Beefmister, seems decent.

with the deposit factored across you're looking at £275 p/month over 2 years (8k miles)...im no expert but I am looking for a lease on a decent sized family saloon/estate...that seems reasonable...any other family car suggestions (Merc, BMW, Audi?)
Just to add, these deals are particularly good as they're from a dealer. So your deposit can be in the form of a trade-in.

I guess 6ppm with maintenance included is still pretty good then!
I assumed your deal was with Plan too. Who's it with?
I would think that maybe if your ppm rate stays the same after taking the maintenance deal then maybe maintenance is not included after you have reached your agreed mileage?

Who as in sales person?

I didn't see a "pre maintenance" excess ppm charge, as I have 10k allowance, and only expect to use 8k in reality - there's wiggle room in it if my wife needs to do some longer journeys for work etc.

Who, as in which company is your deal with to have a 6ppm excess on a maintained contract?

I'm looking at a 5 series touring which will be my first lease.

These are looking good for a 520d M Sport step Auto:

National Vehicle Solutions (http://www.nationalvehiclesolutions.co.uk/BMW-5-Series-Touring-520d-%5B190%5D-M-Sport-5dr-Step-Auto-Personal-Lease/37583)

6+23, 8k miles £305pm, average cost pa £4,577 plus £200 fee.
If you want to go 9+23, 5k miles then £256pm, average cost £4,230 plus £200 fee.

Eastern BMW & Central UK vehicle leasing have similar numbers.
All inc VAT.

I'll probably pay the excess mileage if it's not an exhorbitant cost per mile.

I'll need a couple of options though - it seems that you pay for these in full over a 2 year lease? Ie they add nothing to the lease company's disposal value at the end of the lease?

Visiting the webpage it now says £189 + VAT (9+23)
Which makes it the same price as most (non-AMG Sport) SLK deals over the past few years

Plan leasing - sorry, wasn't sure what you were asking. My quote form has 6ppm, but doesn't specifically call out that it would cover maintenance after 20k miles (I would assume not and am working to that basis).

I know it can vary, but what's the average lead time on a vehicle when leasing?

I'm hoping to get a new job next month and I have to give one month's notice at current employer. I've got a company car at the moment, so I'd only have 4/5 weeks before I'd need the car.

It's best to check the lead time. Most sites will advertise stock deals (at least that's what my searching has yielded), and these can be as fast as two weeks.

Otherwise, 8-12 weeks is pretty average, but some can be quite long i.e. Golf R etc.

Not wanting to derail the thread any more, but if it's like my M135i, the stock tyres will outlast the mileage allowance, it may need one oil change just before it goes back based on time, and won't need anything like brakes or brake fluid until at least 40k. So why pay for maintenance and tyres?

Of course I considered this.

I expect that I will need a set of front pads and a set of rear tyres ( 245x18 I think )on top of one service by 16,000 miles.

Also means that I won't have to stress about handing it back with less than 1.5mm on the tyres and all the service lights on.

How much for this reassurance ?

A massive £15pm

Complete no-brainer

It really isn't a complete no brainer.

It won't need a service within 16,000 miles (and it it did, it'd be the cheapest oil service, so not £15 a month over 2 years) and it certainly won't need front pads - mine is inline for doing at least 30-40k on its front pads.

The reason why the maint option is so cheap is because it's quite literally money for nothing. They know that unless you are unlucky enough to get a puncture the car will require nothing within the lease period.
