A bit left field but might interest someone. My car was stolen and need to replace it asap. I really wanted a Golf R estate but the lead times are a problem. I was looking for the best car with immediate availability and come across a Lexus IS300H Executive on 6+23 at £179 per month with no document fee. 8000 miles included.

Clearly going to be a bit meh to drive but for what you get, it's two years cheap motoring for a £30k car. Best of all, you can have one in a couple of weeks time.

Now off to buy a fun second car....

Can someone please send me a link to the Golf R Estate deal?

Looking for a personal lease for 15k miles p/a. Was really tempted by the Skoda VRS deal, but the Golf Estate looks really good.

Also, I'm doing this to replace a company car which goes back in November. I assume you can't be too picky about when the cars arrive?

Someone I work with got a Golf R from Freedom and it sat at the dealership for 2 months before finally being delivered. My advice would be to order earlier than you need it because VW lead times are all over the place atm.

My local dealer told me they have 2 build slots a month for the R and that there saying over 20 weeks for delivery. Or we can have a stock GTI in 2-3 weeks

Only the lease company will be able to tell you that. Some stagger the rate, so for instance my excess is 16ppm up to 2000 miles over the allowance, and anything above that is a higher rate. My excess is pretty steep but thankfully I won't use any.

The highest excess I've heard of is my colleagues at 31ppm on his Golf R.
Wow. My Golf R is 6p + VAT. That's stupendous!

Hi
Looking at taking a lease out but was wondering what other things will I have to pay for other then my monthly payments.

For example a service, do I have to take it back to the dealer or can a local garage do it.

The car I have seen is on a 4 year deal so I am guessing that for the last year whatever goes wrong with that car I have to pay for it.

Thanks

Golf GTD with Gateway/Network on 15K, 3/23 inc maintenance.
22.04ppm for the first 4.5K miles over 30K and 33.04ppm thereafter!

Not that good when you add VAT on
£6234 inc VAT for a 2 year lease of a £30k car. That's 20% of the RRP, which would not cover the depreciation if you'd paid cash on the full RRP. That's cheap enough in my book. Whether the car is any good is another and separate matter.
Or buy a 12 month old one for £17k..

yes, the second hand car being cheaper than a new car debate is well established smile

You pay for fuel, insurance, servicing, wear and tear.
Most lease deals I've read state you must take the car to the main dealer.
How much more expensive is the 2 year lease? A 4 year lease will have more than twice the wear & tear costs of a 2 year lease, plus the car is out of warranty as you say.

Just been approved for an Ibiza 1.6 TDI CR FR 5dr with Nationwide Vehicle Contracts. It's a base spec car in Technic Grey on 10k miles pa over 24 months. I'm fairly happy with the deal:

-£180 admin/delivery fee
-£485.82 initial rental
-23 x £161.94

Total payable over 2 years is £4390.44, unless I do excess miles (probable) which are 9.2p each.

Few of these lease deals are looking attractive to me but I suspect that is because I actually want a car to use daily, not just 8-10K of leisure use. The used car market at 12-18 months old looks very attractive as a not like for like but a cost effective alternative.

The biggest lease breaker for me is that I want more flexibility but the idea of not locking up £20k of money I have versus paying a few hundred quid of money I've not earned yet does have its draw.

Get a 5 year personal loan and treat it like a PCP - lots of flexibility and no money (well not yours) tied up.

Yep. Also means if something was to happen regarding your income, you're not tied financially to the car.

Seat leon cupra deals from stable, mentioned a couple of pages back, are the cheapest hot hatch deals available just now I think.

Many thanks for the sensible advice. I'd use saved money before getting a loan though which still means tying up money.

I suppose I'm not using the money for anything else right now but you never know what's around the corner.

It doesn't sound like a PCP is right for me though.
