What the fk would you know about fashion?
They won't be discounted due to limited supply

However, V8 or don't bother.
What makes you so sure about that? Don't tell me you heard it from a dealer.

I don't understand the point in leasing a diesel and then only being able to do 5000 miles pa in it. Surely you'd want a petrol engine to make this deal a bit more appealing?

I get it for some deals, sometimes its not that much more pence per mile - i only do 8k max per year - so an 8000 miles one is fine for me , if i went over by 2000 at 10ppm its no mega worry either -

It's a £30k car, after discount, that will probably be worth £20k as a p/x in two years' time.

I agree that it's probably not a great choice to do such a low mileage, but if the excess per mile is low enough to make the contract relatively cheap and flexible, it's a good deal.

If it's 30ppm excess then it's just pointless bait pricing.

That is a poor deal on the 'Stang.
It will cost two thirds of the RRP (inc VAT) to lease for the term.
No way it's going to lose £20+ grand over 4 years with only 20,000 miles on at the end.

Good point but I can see some people being able to justify it just to be one of the first to own (lease) one.

You've got to come up with £2,556 as a deposit, and that monthly payment gets you £22k as a loan over five years.

So you've got roughly £5k outstanding after year 4, and have to find an additional £4,500 as a deposit - so you've paid out £9,500 more than the lease, except that you would own the car outright.

The question is whether a 4-year-old Mustang with 20k will be worth >£9,500 in four years' time (and/or if the excess mileage charges will offset the additional depreciation). I think that it will be at least £12k and probably closer to £15k, so leasing is still a poor deal.

The 'rules' on leasing are different to buying cash, even more so when buying a second-hand car.
Leasing, in this thread at least, is all about the best/cheapest deal.
If a diesel is cheaper to lease than the equivalent petrol then the customers is better off leasing the diesel. The issues of nominal fuel cost savings, damage to diesel engines from short journeys are not relevant in this context.

You may still have to be wary of the DPFs - I have heard that even under warranty dealers will refuse to clean out a failed DPF if it happens more than a couple of times. Not sure how true this is as it is just wot I az red on'tinternet.....

You can get an SLK for around half that and with double the miles so it is a very poor deal.

As someone who leases a car, I do know that smile I just wouldn't take a diesel if there was no financial gain in it for me. I do a 70 mile round trip most days, so diesel is worth it for my lease, but if I drove less than 10 a day then I would have a petrol all day long.

problem you have is that best deals are mostly on diesel cars
I ended up ordering Golf GTD not because its my dream car or because I do hyper mileage
My lease deal came to £5300 all in over 2 years personal lease!!!
It was a no brainer as it worked out much cheaper than a basic petrol Golf.
Its all about a deal and not the engine

I understand all of that, I just don't think the 3 series is a "good deal" at that price. I'd assume you could get a petrol for very similar money.
