I have a question about leasing generally. I have been living for the past 4 years in the Netherlands, where I have a bought an apartment, and have been earning a very decent salary. I am moving back to the UK now, and I would like to lease a car, but without 5 years continuous residence in the UK, it seems to be very difficult. I am able (and willing) to pay the entire lease upfront into some escrow account (a good lease beats depreciation, so it saves money over buying new and selling), but it seems that the finance company will still credit score me and consider me a bad risk.
Does anyone know of a company that is able to look sensibly at a situation like this, without dumping me in to the "poor credit rating" bracket? I am about to start a new job on 70k per year, a £300pm lease is hardly asking a lot!
Cheers!

I believe that the 208 GTI deal is now;
1+17 @ £201.70 (incl vat)
3+17 @ £181.52 (incl vat)
Either way they both work out at about £3630.00, still not bad when compared to Fiesta ST-3 deals.
I picked one up for 3+17 @ 150 inc, 10K. My first lease, I think it's a fairly good deal.1+17 @ £201.70 (incl vat)

Evoque order placed, couldn't find a better deal than the 3+47 and got a bit 'lease blind' in the end after trying to search google.
New face lift car with the new ingenium engine due for delivery oct/early nov. First lease and quite happy to date. Not quite as happy as the missus though as I kept threatening her with a £99 vw up or similar!
Now for the joys of insurance and co when it arrives

I spent much of that time living in the Netherlands, where owning a car makes almost no sense at all . Getting back into it now I am back in the UK. But yeah, pretty pleased with 10 years of lurking.Respect.

What colour/spec you gone for ?
Just joining the leasing world after many years on PCP plans and swapping every two years. We have done well doing this. However now we need a slightly bigger car and can see we can get a much more expensive car for similar money to what we pay on the PCPs.
We have a very nice Skoda Fabia which we need to chop in, so rather than going the we buy any car or private sale route, we are thinking we will get the best deal by going for another Skoda for the initial deal. To be fair I like skodas anyway, so not really a problem. Once we have finished the first lease we will obviously free to go with whatever we want.
Anyways. I have a deal on the table which will clear the PCP on the Fabia and then we can have a Skoda Yeti Outdoor 4x4 2.0tdi 150 (Laurin and Klement spec) with metallic paint for around £630 initial payment and 23 payments of £210. This is Inc VAT and for 10k miles per annum. Additional miles 6p.
How's this sound?
RRP for the car is around £27k and the spec is good.
Also. Been reading about the charges for damage on return. Is this a real issue? We look after out cars and hate any damage. If we keep the car nice and clean are we likely to be OK? It almost sounds like pot luck which is a worry when trying to work out budgets.
Cheers

One other question. How friendly are insurers towards lease cars? Does it affect premiums or no claims or anything?
I've just insured my first lease and it seemed to make no difference to the quotes I was getting. All the online comparison sites have it listed as an option for the vehicle's owner.superdon said:
Thanks.
So how's about the Yeti deal?
Skoda Yeti 2.0tdi 150ps 4x4 Laurin and Klement with metallic paint. OTR RRP approx £26k
£609 deposit
£203 x 23
6ppm additional miles
Is that inc VAT or Ex VAT? So how's about the Yeti deal?

I guess Ex Vat as the 6p is the usual VAG group excess.
It does sound good, I test drove one but both the kids who don't normally get car sick, started to feel funny in under 5 mins. The smell of the cheap leather and new car was so strong...
Where is your deal from?
