Are you seriously stupid or do you just post for attention?
Is it acceptable for people to make their own decisions about which laws to obey? Why do you think its acceptable to decide which laws you obey?
Bending the law and going a little faster now and again on the motorway or rual roads is different than constantly speeding at 60mph past a school or delibrately defrauding an entity permanently.

Back topic, is there a reason why some cars don't seem to get leased?
For another thread I was just looking for a Lexus LS deal and there doesn't seem to be any company that leases them. Why might this be?

People have their lease cars clocked? How is that even possible considering when I take my Merc for a service, a computer is hooked up to it and the mileage is recorded electronically? Surely there would be a way for them to tell it had been tampered with?
'Corrected' before it goes anywhere near a dealerships computer? Potentially multiple times during a two or three year lease.Du1point8 said:

definitely financial benefit in resetting the service interval warning yourself (condition/time based computer) a few months after a service/a few thousand miles after the last one if ever there is one! (presuming its a computer system - "the car never said it needed a service...")
For a lease car anyway...
Fraudulent. For a lease car anyway...
I wasn't advocating the hard re-setting/haircutting of the mileage, just the delay of automated warnings.
You save £800, but its in your contract to pay for the service and you are defrauding the company by being dishonest... might as well do clocking as well.
I currently have a company car but the vehicle selection choices come renewal are poor to say the least so leasing may be my alternative option using a cash for car deal.
The problem would be that I would need an annual mileage allowance of at least 20000 miles. Is this likely to scupper any chance of a reasonable deal on anything remotely desirable?

In an identical situation I spent ages trying to help my sister get a decent deal and it just wasn't happening at all.The problem would be that I would need an annual mileage allowance of at least 20000 miles. Is this likely to scupper any chance of a reasonable deal on anything remotely desirable?

She was looking at significantly lesser cars than if she remained in the company car scheme due to the 20k pa mileage.
In the end I persuaded her to buy a 3 year old Qashqai with almost no mileage and she is absolutely delighted she did. It is like a new car, she really likes it, and it has cost her less than nothing when you take the car allowance/tax into account.
In her shoes I would have bought a 3 year old much better car and tried to remain even but with a better car-but whatever your preferences are.
But in short- it is hard to get a high mileage decent lease deal in my experience.
I would get £375 allowance which of course the tax man will take what, 46% of? I won't pay the co. car tax I currently have to fork out which I suppose will be about £130 per month so I have £330ish to spend. There is the extra per mile and the tax rebate on the mileage to bump this up a bit but of course a 20k per annum car is going to take a few tyres and services to keep it going.
The car must also be less than 5 years old.
The other option is to swallow the bitter pill, take the 1.6D SE Golf Estate and buy an MX-5 for fun.....

Exactly the same figures as my sister almost to the penny
She was being offered slightly better than the Golf (but may be not more expensive) and she couldn't get near the calibre of car by doing it herself.
In your shoes- buy a 3 year old nice car with sub 20k miles. Sell it after 2 years to a)keep it within your 5 year rule and b) mean that you are still selling a car with modest mileage and repeat.
FOr your £300 a month you could get something really nice if you can be arsed with it.

obviously the mileage makes the deals much harder to find ....The car must also be less than 5 years old.

One service every year/10k? As this might be my backup option.
I know it's not meant to be as good as the Golf, but the deal reflects that.
Only asking as the manual, base spec R was about £7500 for two years. The fiesta is £5000, then add two services if you have to service it before it goes back and maybe two front tyres if you drive enthusiastically and you're most likely looking at pushing the £6000 mark, or I'm over estimating the service costs.

Compared to the maintained Golf R. What would the overall costs be?

Not a lot to be honest. Tax is £125/year, tyres will last over 15k miles even with hard driving and Ford servicing isn't that expensive compared to the likes of VW. Servicing is every 12k miles or 12 months. One service every year/10k? As this might be my backup option.

Brilliant little cars and I'd bet more fun over a tight and twisty road.
