That's like asking should my favourite colour be red or blue?
Do you want to have the option to own it or not?
To be honest if you're buying what is standard lease company/company car fare then you'd be better of not throwing away your deposit on a PCP.
Of course BMW will shepherd you down the PCP route as they get more commish!
I don't think I'd like the opportunity to own the car, the balloon payment won't be too attract anyway and I'd either want a new car or run a cheaper car for a while. Do you want to have the option to own it or not?

Those Cactus deals are pretty darn good.
£130 down and £130 per month on personal lease for 10k miles.
It does my head in how expensive leasing (well motoring in general) is here in NL.
The same car here in NL is €400 (£300) per month on a 'decent' deal.
Everything is about 3x the bloody price. Cheap cars and cheap leasing etc are just about the only thing I miss about the UK.
That and decent pub grub!
Just thinking out aloud, would it be possible to lease a car from the UK and use it in europe? Unlikely ,maybe , but not impossible i would hope£130 down and £130 per month on personal lease for 10k miles.

Not really. You might get away with it if you have an address in the UK to use as well as a UK bank account. Some leasing companies want to see a copy of your insurance (or at least have the details), so you'd need to insure it in the UK too. Nice idea though

I went in to the BMW garage yesterday and pretty much fell in love with the 3 Series after a test drive!
The figures seem quite high though on a PCP deal.
£4000 deposit
£350 per month
48 month contract
8000 miles
The car is a 320d auto with M Sport Plus Pack which has upgraded wheels, brakes and sound system..
I've had a quick look at leasing deals and they appear to be more attractive.
Egon Car Leasing have a 320d M Sport on a 9+35 deal £262 per month Inc VAT.
Am I right in thinking that I should go down a lease route if I want a new 3 Series rather than PCP with BMW? Any advice welcome guys.
That PCP deal is definitely a 'dealer special' I.e rubbish. BMW are a little trickier than some other manufacturers to get clear advice on pricing as they are so protective about 'discount' sites like drivethedeal, carwow, broadspeed etc advertising anything. Can't tell you whether the lease or PCP deal will be better value over the term, but I can guarantee that a quick chat with some of the above brokers will see that monthly figure drop rapidly. I'd have thought nearer the 275 mark should be possible fairly easily based on typical BMW discounts. The figures seem quite high though on a PCP deal.

Thanks for the advice mate, appreciate it. Have to say I'm a bit wet behind the ear when it comes to new cars which isn't great when talking to a dealer. I'll have a look at those sites and keep my eyes open for lease deals. If anyone sees any great deals on a 3/4 series let me know 😀

The leasing deal is definitely better, but for that price i'm guessing its going to be a standard car, i.e. no m sport plus pack, upgraded wheels etc.The figures seem quite high though on a PCP deal.

If you add the options you want to the lease the price is likely to climb quickly, as you'll pay the full cost or near enough the full cost of the additional options over the lease period.
That is why in the end I went for a 4 series, as it had the stuff I wanted as standard, i.e. heated seats, professional media, etc.

If you chop your cars in every 2-3 years then I see absolutely no point PCP'ing anything, as the whole thing is generally geared on getting equity in the car so they can keep you as a customer when it comes to getting a new one.
I really wanted a Jaguar XE (Petrol 240bhp version), and after two test drives the best they could do on a demonstrator was going to cost 8 grand deposit, and 600 quid a month for the 240bhp petrol version. So thats 20 odd grand for two years, including their 'competitive' 9-10% APR!
I went for a 345 quid a month 335d with 3k down on a lease, which is a shade over 10 grand for the same period.... I'm willing to make some compromises if it's going to cost me literally half the price.

Yeah, Jaguar only provided comedy figures when I spoke to them. Even when presented with evidence that I could walk into a BMW with nearly double the list price for the same money, they kept on trotting out laughable numbers like they were doing me a favour.I really wanted a Jaguar XE (Petrol 240bhp version), and after two test drives the best they could do on a demonstrator was going to cost 8 grand deposit, and 600 quid a month for the 240bhp petrol version. It's a real shame if they're not able/willing to match what the German

Going slightly off topic, I think this is where they'll fall down with their ambitions in the fleet markets. One of my customers really wanted to add JLR to his fleet, but the costs just didn't stack up for him. They were an extra 50-100% more a month than MB/BMW/Audiloudlashadjuster said:
