Cheers - I'm sure if there is anything obvious which needs work on I will get a smart repair before handing it back, other than that a good clean and hopefully they'll be fair!
Always get repairs done yourself, they'll charge you a higher cost + an admin fee on top and not get any work done on it before chucking it in the auction. loudlashadjuster said:
Alternative view; I opted not to get two alloy wheels and a cracked DRL lens replaced and the assessor didn't even note them. Probably saved me £400.
That's the flip side! I'd happily get any repairs done prior that will need to be done, but at the same time if something is 50/50 dependent on the inspector it could be a waste of money. Hopefully I'll just enjoy the car for 2 years with no major incidents and I'll stick some photos up of any minor cosmetic'damage' when it's time to return it and hopefully PH can advise further Thanks for your replies.

2.6 In the event that the manufacturer or the leasing company no longer has the Vehicle available for the price on which the Contract is based, AL retains the right to change the price set out in the Contract. AL will notify the Customer of any such change to the price and if the change is not agreed the Customer may cancel the Contract by notifying AL in writing within 3 days of receiving notice of the price increase and, subject to clause 2.7 the Fee shall be retained by AL but the Deposit shall be refunded to the Customer of receiving such notice of cancellation.
It also has a much higher XS mileage charge than we are typically seeing with VW Group cars (11.5p + VAT).

I just got a firm quote from these guys and would strongly recommend that anyone read their terms and conditions very carefully. With these cars available in limited supply (11) there's a chance you could place your order and miss the availability: in which case pay attention to clause 2.6

Then they should remove it from the Ts&Cs. Just the fact that they put it in the Ts&Cs would put me off sourcing through them.

So they want £610 worth of admin fees?
I don't think the holding deposit is a fee. It seems to be a deposit on the contract. The admin fee is what the broker is charging for their services. I suspect it's the only way they make their living. The internet causes so much transparency on pricing that the monthly fees are discounted to the absolute minimum or they wouldn't even get an enquiry.
These admin fees seem to vary from around £150 - £300 + VAT. I think the brokers should get something, but £300+VAT seems like a lot of money when others are charging £150+VAT.

I think GAP insurance will become the new PPI misselling scandal.

For some reason many people seem to have misunderstood what it actually offers. I've no idea why, every time I've taken it out it has always been more than explanatory what it covers and what it doesn't.
My understanding of GAP insurance is; if i get in my brand new car and have an accident which leads to the car being written off, my insurance company will pay out the market value, which will fall short of the full cost which the leasing company will want back, thats where GAP kicks in and provides the shortfall? With LV car insurance, they offer new for old if the car is less than 12 months old, so I guess in my situation it's only useful after the 12 months period through to the end of the lease, however I believe you have to take GAP out within 60 days after receiving your new car, is this correct?
I quick google, and i found GAP insurance for 24 months for £78 or something, based on £38k car value. It doesn't seem to bad for what it is.

I don't begrudge anyone making a profit either, that just sounds steep to me

First time poster, longtime lurker looking for help.
Looking to pull the trigger on my first lease and I'm after a golf GTI, Leon Cupra 280 5dr or similar. Preference would be 3 upfront and 5k miles if excess mileage isn't too high (expect to do about 6,7k pa)
Smart lease are doing the cupra 280 3+23 5k at £262pm http://www.smartlease.co.uk/seat-leon-cupra-5-car-...
Also a 3+35 8k deal available same car at £254

Can't find anything for a Golf GTI for similar money and don't want to wait 6 months.
Thoughts welcome
