I also suspect there could be an element of making the standard bulbs naff to show how much better the cost option (or standard on a better spec) lamps are.

I know that this is the lease deal thread but thought I'd ask anyway.

I have 2 lease cars going back this year. One at 2 years old and one at 4. Am I expected to have had the 2nd service done on the 2 year old or the 4th service and a 2nd MOT done on the 4 year old? I've read conflicting info.

Having read the contracts it just states completed service book in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and a valid mot.

So if I arrange collection of both a fortnight before end of contract would I get away with it? One car is with ALD and the other from Lex.
Anyone any help with this? Both cars are 10k or 12 month service schedules for info. Do people service their lease vehicles just before return or just punt them back?

It'll be what ever the specific car says you should do.
Not much help, but you know your T&C better than anyone else.

For my cars, I followed the on-board computer and returned one car saying service was due in 20days, but 20days is outside the contract, so I was not required to have this done. HTH.

Regarding excess mileage, it depends who is funding the deal, my S3 for example is through Hitachi. My contract says I can exceed contracted mileage by 10% over the term and excess mileage will cost x ppm, however above and beyond 10% of contracted mileage it will be x+ ppm. With regards to remortgage situation, if you are in a position that you can afford to pay the whole cost of leasing a car up front then it would appear that you are in a good position financially, therefore is it really going to affect remortgage process? I doubt that you would be allowed to do this, but as already mentioned you could make a larger initial payment which will bring your monthlies down. Another option might be to buy a cheap runaround until remortgage process is finalised before leasing a new car. Happy motoring.
Thank you

It's more that I'm self employed and the banks are looking very hard these days since the whole 'Liars Loan' scandal of ten years ago where you just said how much you wanted to borrow and fiddled the figures to suit.

It does look like i'll be caught up in the whole tax change thing post april now.

I appreciate what people are saying, however I feel the xenons add a premium feel. We're not in a rush to lease, having a perfectly good A4 3.0q TDi to use, so can sit tight and get ready to pounce!
The LED lights on the Tiguan SEL are amazing, they mask areas so you can leave full beam on behind cars and on country lanes with cars approaching and it fades areas in and out, really smart bit of kit

I see so you want the Xenons because they look nicer then. I thought it was because your wife did a lot of night driving.

I know what you're saying. Modern cars with yellowy halogens look crap imo, ruins the look of the car.
Given that when they are on, you are generally inside the car and can't see them does it really matter? Is the priority here what other people think when they look at you in your car?

Surely when there is a good deal to be had then not taking it up because of vanity is a bit daft? rolleyes

The xc60 is a good deal, but it's no Alltrack, so I guess spec then begins to be of more importance.
Halogen headlights are ok for me and my wife, but we both like heated seats.
We all have our own bottom line.

Side point relating to leasing...

...majority of car adverts on TV I see advertise PCP deals. You know the types, Corsa/Fiesta 'from only £199 per month' and then right at the bottom it states in small print 'deposit of £3789 required with Personal Contract Purchase'.

Noticed over the past couple of days a Volvo V40 R-Design advert on TV (Sky Sports and Channel 4 today) - but an interesting point that it's based on a Personal Contract Hire deal - from £199 per month with a £2300 initial rental - 8k miles pa. May have included maintenance, but not sure on that.

I know it's not on par with deals posted on here, but it looked like good value compared to other TV ads for new car purchases. I don't often see PCH/personal leasing offers on TV.

Perhaps a sign of things to come?

Could someone give me some advice on this please? Seems okay to me. It's a 33k car, and the deal is ~£9537 for 2 years if my maths is right. Assuming I can actually get it at this price... 8k miles per year.

Thanks.

Frankly it's a bit expensive. The golden rule is 25% total of rrp is ok, 20% is good and under extra good but 29%.... A bit rubbish smile

Seems that VAG petrols are usually more expensive to lease than the ubiquitous 2.0 TDi lumps

The Volvo XC60 is much better value, depends if you need 7 seats or not.

Drove a 6 volt system 1940s car, with yellow French headlights, should they weren't great, but then you weren't going very hard!

It isn't a good deal if it isn't the car he wants though is it?

You might not care what your car looks like but a lot of other people do, to call someone daft for wanting xenon headlights is er, a bit daft.

I didn't.

I suggested that it would be daft to miss out on a good deal because of one's opinion regarding the appearance of the headlights (too yellow vs bright white),

Like the previous poster I consider Xenons (or LED headlights) essential; but only because of their function, not because of how they look to others when they are in use.

I'm about to go for a 2yr XC60 deal but I can't decide betweeen the T5 geartronic SE Nav (leather) or R Design Nav......

Pros and cons to both. R design looks better but doesn't have the leather or a few features like rear parking sensor etc. Reluctant to add loads of options. I'm thinking the bigger 18" wheels on the r design might be better to get the power down too as it's FWD.
