Best Lease Car Deals Available? (Vol 3)
Discussion
Cheap SUV? Hyundai Tuscon at £199 inc VAT on a 3+23 8k miles (£5174). Plus fee I imagine. Works out at around 23% of RRP.

We were looking at these and that's a good deal, but we decided that 13.7s to 60 is on the wrong side of "adequate". It would have to be one of the other engines.http://www.ukcarcontracts.co.uk/car-leasing-hyunda...

Any opinions on how bad a deal this was?
I'm on the lookout for a lease in a few weeks and while I'm almost certainly going to go the C class route, if a phenomenal deal becomes available I could be persuaded.
So a friend tells me that there are fantastic lease deals available on Volvo's, more specifically the V90/S90's and having seen them they are pretty good IMO.
Last Sunday then sees me taking a V90 D5 out for a spin and I was pretty impressed to the extent that I ask for some figures on the slightly less powered D4 with a P11D price of £42k.
The best the dealers could come up with was £720 a month on a 9+23, with 10k per year and an 18ppm excess mileage charge.
Add in various charges and it came out at 52% of retail over the two years.
The sales person then suggested that it was the best deal I would get on a V90.
What's the opinion of the group?

Stupid price. £23,040 over 2 years .If you're willing to go for the D4, you can have it for £9,990 with 10k miles:

Or if it must be the D5 (with the premium it adds it looks like a silly choice over the D4), you can have it for £15,145 with 12k miles: https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

See what car leasing bit - no idea if the car you drove had tonnes of options - this is what pushes the price up - but bog standard Inscription D4 V90 is 423.71 a month on 3+35 or 392.70 on 6+35 - I would tell the dealer to go away - missed out on the best deals - these were a few months ago - I was looking at the time - decided to not go for it as circumstances changed.

It was a standard inscription with the top down camera option added, so I didn't exactly go mad with the options. Like I said I'm most likely to go for the C Class at the end of April if the deals are available, but if something of interest pops up at a price I can't resist then I could be tempted providing it's a top brand, estate shaped and has the right toys onboard.

Kia isn't a top brand? A shame because the Optima is a thoroughly decent car and dirt cheap - for a reason, yes, which is that no one will buy one if they think that no one else will. I've had a couple from Hertz and they're bloody good cars, albeit in need of another 40 bhp. E220d SE wagons are available for a whisker under £300 on a 9+23 if that's more your thing.Like I said I'm most likely to go for the C Class at the end of April if the deals are available, but if something of interest pops up at a price I can't resist then I could be tempted providing it's a top brand, estate shaped and has the right toys onboard.

It's well kitted out though, with 17in alloys, 8in touchscreen sat-nav, DAB radio, heated front seats, lumbar support, dual-zone climate control and cruise control.
Might be a good family run around for someone? I see lots on the school run.

For your own pleasure, by all means, but you'll get no thanks from the lease company, nor the inspector when you return the car. jonny996 said:

It's interesting isn't it? A big mindset change from PCP to PCH is the fundamental shift that... you don't own the car. So you don't need to stress about it. You don't need to wax the damn thing. It doesn't have residual value nor a balloon payment, and if it gets a little chip or a big scratch, you don't cry yourself to sleep about your preciousssss. Our deal estimating spreadsheets are going to need a new column at this rate: "extra expenditure treating the car as if you own it".
I hardly ever wash my leased Audi and keep it dirty on purpose. This way I can see if someone touched it and scratched it. It spends a lot of time at airport car parks. In case of cash purchased Mercedes, I carefully wash it and hassle the service to make sure everything is fixed during warranty period. I took it to airport only once for overnight stay. I think lease is way to go for me. I don't care if something rattles, I don't care about long life service and consequences, etc. I know I will return the car and will never see it again.
I even started entertaining cars I would never consider before, based on price and spec. As long as it ticks the boxes, I can use it for 2 years and return it. It's just long term hire car.
