Fast Bug, what Mercedes as the best support at the moment?
Not sure off the top of my head as the matrix was being updated on Friday. I'll have a look tomorrow when I'm back at work. I'd stab a guess at C or E Class as they have the best availability.
Interested in this as well as really fancy an E220d AMG Line saloon if the price is right.

Thanks

Helped my uncle buy a 65 plate E220 yesterday. Really impressive. I'd add that to my list of high possibles when leasing my next car. Any notice of good deals would be appreciated!

I'll be taking delivery of my Audi A6 on Monday, just had a few questions.

The car will be driven from Chesterfield to Essex for delivery which is a 150 miles journey, isn't that high for delivery miles? Or on a lease car it doesn't matter?

The broker has supplied me with the car ref. I've tried entering the reg on comparethemarket etc and none of them are able to recognise the car. Apparently quotes are always slightly high when you enter the car manually?

Thanks in advance

Here is a real life example of returning a lease vehicle.

Car went back yesterday after 24 months, Mercedes E Class cabriolet.

It was collected by representatives of BCA who checked the car over and printed out the report on the spot.

It had quite a nasty scrape on the front bumper. £201
A missing key £260
A broken Near side wing mirror and lens. £180.

All the tyres were checked and above the acceptable limit but interestingly I had fitted Barums fitted (non premium) and they were not commented on.

All the alloys were scuffed but not dented, no issue with that and the car had a tiny dent in the passenger door that drew no comment.

So, all in all considering the car had done 35,000 miles and needed a good valet it was an OK experience.

The driver said it would be repaired and go into a closed auction to enter the MB network as an approved used.

So if anyone is concerned about end of lease charges that was my experience.

Good write up. Gives us all an indication of the kind of experience we ought to expect once the lease is up. Thanks!

Just recently sent my Mini back with a missing key, charged £250.00 by Alphabet for a key that costs £153.00 retail price. Bit of a large mark up from a trade cost to them despite some hassle.

Look after the keys or you'll get hit these sort of costs at return time!

Based on experience with company lease cars they just seem to want to get a few hundred out of you and then they're happy. The mirror sounds a bit of a result - the heated dimming glass is expensive - as does getting away with the alloys although they apparently have more leeway than is stated in the return guide.

Is £153 cut and programmed to the car? That's cheap these days - they are generally a pretty standard ~£250.

Were you given any options for collection / drop off at a dealer?

IMO it's generally better to hand the car back as is than have repairs done as if the standard of repair isn't great you risk getting charged for it on top of the cost of repairs you will have already paid someone else for.

Not at as dealer but work or home, I'd imagine it could've been done anywhere.

I said to the guys that I considered getting the repair done but thought they would still pick me up on it.

They said as long as any repair looks OK they don't sting you for it.

Doesn't the car go for a second inspection though apart from the initial walk round by the BCA chap? That's what I was told when my last lease was picked up, so I had to wait a little while until I was sure that no further damage was found and no invoice had arrived through my letterbox.

From fleet lease returns it is nearly always better to return the car repaired. Also best to hand it back slightly grubby rather than pristine showing up any imperfection ...

There can't be a second inspection that I am liable for.

Once I've signed it over anything could happen.

So no.

MB key is £250 plus reprogramming £40. Lost one, so know the cost.

Just found the guidance from Leaseplan which shows I was right in my case (might not be the same for all lease providers of course).

I returned my Golf GTD earlier this year.

I keep my cars clean but it had suffered a bumper scuff from a car park idiot. Sent it to my local cheap bodyshop prior to BCA collection. No charges at all.

On another note, how do you folk lose keys? Seems quite careless. Surely, just put them in a safe place and retrieve them 2 years later.

My lease advice said there was a 2nd inspection but after chatting to the guy that collected it I came away with the impression that liability laid with the last person to drive it hence he was being so thorough. He said cars would sometimes have 2 or 3 drivers before they get to destination and often parcel shelves, toolkits, original wheels etc would go missing.
