If a car is written off and your insurance pays the lease company the value of it (or thereabouts) then why don't the lease company provide you with a replacement car for as long as you make your regular payments?
Thread derail but a valid question. Here is why. T he financier is NOT a car dealer, they lend money on a once new car based on criteria they know on the day they offer/accept the deal. The lessee is free to look for the same deal again and many do but there is absolutely no roll over into another car. As of right or option How can they source used cars, what if they can't get new cars on the same cash flows.
The thing is surely the insurer should pay out the value of a replacement car - even if that's a higher price than the cheapo deal the lease co managed buy the first one for
The insurer doesnt offer a lower rate just because its a lease car
Which enables the original owner to potentially buy a used car. Like I said, they aren't used car dealers. They are finance companies. It's all far too cumbersome to even consider, hence they don't do it

Relating to a forum thread
If I take out a 6+23 lease and my car is stolen in say in month 1 (but other months could apply) and my insurance agrees to pay out for the car, where do I stand?
Do you issue another car with the insurance money so I can continue with the deal?
Or do I have to start again and find another 6 month payment from somewhere?
Thanks smile
Great question!

It's really down to the discretion of the finance company. In theory they could terminate the agreement and then you would have to start again. But we have seen on a number of occasions that if a like for like car can be found then the finance company will allow the contract to continue.

Hope this helps?

I went for 3+23 but worked out about the same over the term
Very nice that. Weird as I have no real affection for the B class in any other guise than EV!

Similar to the Kia soul I've signed up for. I'd never consider such a car but stick an EV power train in there and I want one. I think I've been converted.
Funny same here, odd that the EV version of something has a different appeal.

Is this usually a good time of year to pick up an in-stock offer, coming up to year end?

Expect to hear my 06 330i is declared a write-off today/tomorrow so will be looking for a car on a 2 year deal for around £200/month. Only requirement is 5 doors and petrol. Watching this thread closely...

Assuming you don't want a big upfront to go with that monthly (and also assuming it isn't too small as a car) your requirements tend to suggest the in stock Polo GTis that have been knocking about on this thread. I was looking at those until I got distracted by cheap E Class coupes smile Either that or wait for the next bargain - depends how long you can be carless

Cactus does seem good value. Polo GTI, will take a look.
Also saw a Mini Clubman Cooper D for £152+VAT on 9+24 (https://www.gateway2lease.com/cars/mini/clubman/clubman-f54-2.0-cooper-d-chili.php?id=15745287) which is in stock.

Are we talking £200 all in? If so, you are looking at less than £150/month after the initial rental and fee are taken into account. Or £125 ex VAT.

Bear in mind you aren't going to get anything delivered this year now, not unless you can get the lease co to move very very quickly. There's a mandatory 14 day cooling off period and you cannot get the car delivered within this period. Hence at the moment you're looking at 19th as of today.

Put bluntly its £16k for 2 years wafting
Whether this is a good deal would depend on your circumstances and how badly you want to drive a limo

By the oft quoted "25% formula" its about right

Brokers are quoting 53k discounted which would be a reasonable figure to throw at a BMW salesman
Their website lists a GFV of just under £32k after the above term so PCP would cost you £21k in depreciation alone if you hand it back - plus the interest payments and you'll have to pay your own road tax

You could of course buy it outright for 53k and then take your chances privately after 2y but suspect youll end up featuring in the PH "bargain barge" thread!

Now I dont want to drive a new 7 series bu the above factors were instrumental in my leasing my new shiny F31
It quite simply was the cheapest way to drive one for 2 years, with no tax, tyres or servicing to pay for either

Everyones different - leasing worked for me this time
It may or may not next time

Cheers

Its a long time since I did a lease deal, some assistance guys?

"Initial Rental
The total amount payable in the first month, excluding initial rental and any other fees." Isn't this contradictory, ie they are looking 9 mths upfront as the initial fee do you have to pay a months rental at same time? This is paid on reciept of car on first day or when I agree a deal?

If a delivery date is missed what are my rights/options?

Anyone any experience of using UK Car Contracts of Reading?

What deal did you get and who did you go with if you don't mind sharing?

Looking at this one right now but can't get through to them on phone ...

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

For those interesting in comparing the value of the deal. I built this website before to help. All the deprecation figures are out of date sadly but it might help others consider all the elements needed for fair comparison. It ranks the different ways you've had quoted for funding the car. Note: it does log what you inputs as I was toying with turning this into a little side business at one point. Anyhow, if it's useful here's the link ...

Went for the SE Nav - Stock car with Breeze VW in Poole.
It's a little more expensive than the deal posted from Egon, but they haven't responded to any calls/emails in the last 4 days so I decided to go elsewhere.

Sure - thinking to do the same.
Waiting on a call back from Listers VW. Who was it you spoke / dealt with in Poole?
