Seems a really slow time for decent deals, doesn't seem to be a rush for getting end of year orders. I've a feeling this is the way it's going to be now, even this thread has had very little posting over the weekend, anything which looks reasonable is 9+ upfront (or £2400) and 5k miles....Lets see what new year brings.
This is what I want to know...is it worth waiting until Jan to order. I am ready to pull the trigger!

So just spoke to VW - on chat and asked for an update on my Tiguan R line I ordered 18th Nov - was 'still with the factory' on the site, and I heard if you speak to them on chat they have more info on the current status.
Well I almost wish I hadn't, not down for build till 1st May with a delivery Mid June -

Think I might be cancelling, I was told 20 weeks but was kind of thinking that would be the maximum date not the min for what is a standard spec white car.....

hhhmm decisions.
I did see a comment on a mk2 Tiguan forum about component shortages, but the poster didn't have any details.

It does seem some people have got cars quicker than others, but no indication as to why. http://www.tiguanforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&am...

Unless your contract says different don't worry about it, just put any old crap on as long as they're above 2mm and the right speed and load rating.

My Merc stated tyres must be premium and >1.6mm, they gave a few example brands, but it wasn't exhaustive.

I returned an M135i recently after leaving the tyres for as long as I felt I could get away without replacing them. I'd covered 25k on the original set of Super Sports. During collection they spent ages looking at the tyres and taking multiple photos of the tread, I fully expected to be told they weren't acceptable as they were sat just above the wear indicators and the outside front edges were scrubbed.

I was surprised when I was handed the inspection paperwork to sign and all four tyres were listed as having between 6-8mm of tread. I've no idea how you can spend that long inspecting a set of tyres and come to that conclusion, I can only assume it was a ruse to get more for the car at auction?

After auction the car appeared for sale at a car supermarket wearing a mixture of the original tyres and the cheapest ditchfinders. eek

If it's an R it's 4 wheel drive so I'm pretty sure they want all 4 tyres to be matching!?

My opinion is if you find something that ticks most of boxes (and you actually need it) go for it as prices seem to be only going in one direction and I can't see that changing soon. Too many headline rates and when you drill down, similar deal just more expensive on a like for like. A year ago £200pm (all in) was an ok budget, now £300pm doesn't get you a lot.

I think the manufactures could be predicting a major slowdown and second-hand values taking a hit, some tax changes due in April as well.

Not sure if this is a good deal for a Mini, or just typical pricing? I'd prefer two years rather than three, but might help someone:

Freedom Contracts

Mini Cooper 1.5 3dr chili pack
3+35, 10k/year
£543.57 + £181.19 (inc.VAT)
fee = £199(+VAT)

My next lease will be on price alone, not massively fussed over what car it is, so I'm considering all sorts of random stuff that wouldn't usually be on my radar.
I picked up a Cooper SD 5dr Chili Pack for £170 inc VAT on 6+35, 8k miles, in stock from Gateway2Lease. The also have the Cooper D for around £20 less per month.

out of interest, what mileage is your R on needing new rubber?

mine goes back in May and I'm hoping to get away with it, only on 9k at the moment and I guess about 4mm all round.

what about servicing? did you do the second service? ours called for first service within 12 months and around 6k miles, so expecting the service light to pop up soon for service 2, hoping to avoid that of course.

Assume if the light comes on, you need to get it done? even if the day before due back?

If the car is road legal, I can't see how they could impose that unless it's in the T&Cs of course.

I'm a bit concerned about the fronts on ours. The outside edges are looking ropey but the rest has loads left. I actually found they have been running ahout 4psi less than they should have been. Since the car came from renault new and the tps has never pinged up I assumed all was well and never checked them.

I'm tempted to leave them and if u do get billed then cite the above as a mitigating factor. It's a Zoe so has some obscure EV specific tyre on it... Quite pricey I think.

I *think* the Michelins on mine had a softer compound towards the edges, they looked well worn on the edges relatively early on despite the rest of the tyre being ok. A colleague with the same car/tyres noticed the same thing.

Anyway, no issues or charges with my return. smile

You can tell its predominantly FWD by the wear...

Car has done 18900 miles but I ran a good 5000 of those on winter tyres last year

Mine said matching tyres, but they were not explicit whether that was per axle or the whole set.
Does anybody else's T&C give more detail?

That's actually gone up slightly since the beginning of November - you'd think they'd want to reduce prices to shift stock cars. Still not a bad deal though.
