Hatchback. Don't mind about fuel.

I found this deal https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

Only to be told the deal is now £276pcm,is it normal to see a price and then it to be hugely increased when looking into it further?

thanks

Very common. It's called 'bait and switch'. Some are worse than others. May have been a single car offer but there's no easy way to identify this on CH&L - doubt that's the case though.

Now they have your name, email and possibly a telephone to spam you with offers in the hope you/family member/friend signs up to their deals. I've got an email account specifically for these kind of sign ups.

Yeah, main dealer price is not competitive. Also looking to get it in the next couple of weeks.

So I pulled out of the XC60 SE Nav deal - I built the car numerous times on the configurator and Mrs Faxo was happy with the spec. Went to sign the finance docs, and there was an SE Nav there, but with halogen headlights. Asked the sales guy, who told me xenons were £1100 option! Mrs Faxo drives a lot at night, so xenon is a must on her cars. This is the configurator pic, which is 'my Volvo', clearly showing xenon headlights!

Back waiting for a decent Tiguan SEL or R Line deal!

Compromise has to be made to secure the cheap deals, I notice a lot of folks going for the XC60 are going for the SE over the R Design.

Are Xenons really a must? Over the years I've had cars with and without and even driving those not sporting xenons I have managed many thousands of miles at night without crashing or going off the road. I'm not even sure what lights my Alltrack has.....

My sister had an XC60 without xenons and I borrowed it occasionally and never found the lights lacking. But I do find xenons better. The colour temperature of them is far better than conventional bulbs.

If they are projector headlights you could always fit an hid upgrade kit.

I've used an HIDS4U 55w kit on an early Merchant CLS and a VW Touran and they work brilliantly.

Faxo, halogens on a Volvo are a different world from halogens on Most other cars. Had an old shape XC90 with halogens and with some extra bright Halfords bulbs it was excellent on dipped beam on country lanes. Had a new 116d at the same time and even with expensive Osram night breaker bulbs you couldn't see where you were going, they were so bad it was untrue.

Xenon headlights will always be better but Volvo does tend to make very good halogen headlights, especially if you fit some Philips Or Osram bulbs to them.

I appreciate what people are saying, however I feel the xenons add a premium feel. We're not in a rush to lease, having a perfectly good A4 3.0q TDi to use, so can sit tight and get ready to pounce!

I know what you're saying. Modern cars with yellowy halogens look crap imo, ruins the look of the car.

Had a 2012 E Class with halogens, it was the most frustrating part of the car. Couldn't go any faster than 40mph on unlit A/B roads.

My experience is don't touch a German car (Merc, BMW, Audi) without zenons or LEDs - maybe why most of them have then as standard now (one exception is BMW X3).

+1

If you're willing to swap out the bulbs yourself for something more powerful (I use Philips Xtreme Vision), halogen headlamps can be more than adequate. I do lots of night driving and my (10 year old) halogens project light incredibly far down the road.
