I'm about to go for a 2yr XC60 deal but I can't decide betweeen the T5 geartronic SE Nav (leather) or R Design Nav......

Pros and cons to both. R design looks better but doesn't have the leather or a few features like rear parking sensor etc. Reluctant to add loads of options. I'm thinking the bigger 18" wheels on the r design might be better to get the power down too as it's FWD.
check out the 3 year prices, mines dropped a fair bit. I went R-design, if I am driving a Volvo I want it to at least look slightly for the younger market.

Haha yeah good point! I might just go with the R Design and add the rear parking sensors. Are you going direct to a dealer?

With regards to remortgage situation, if you are in a position that you can afford to pay the whole cost of leasing a car up front then it would appear that you are in a good position financially, therefore is it really going to affect remortgage process? I doubt that you would be allowed to do this, but as already mentioned you could make a larger initial payment which will bring your monthlies down.
In a similar vein, I'm in the slightly odd position of being able to afford to pay the full cost of a lease a few times over, but I have a poor credit score due to prior difficulties when my business went under. So whilst I eagerly follow this thread to keep track of what deals are available, I fully expect the computer would say 'no' should I ever wish to fist the kumquat. If it was possible to pay the majority of the lease up front then that might solve my problem.

I pondered the same and went for XE in the end. The base R-design doesn't look good enough for me in the flesh and the 18's look no bigger than the SE 17" as they black accents on the rim so just looks like more tyre (to my eye at least).

I wasn't happy that the R-design didn't have rear park / full leather so went SE. I also think the rear bumper / exhaust of the SE looks nicer and more 'designed' over the twin round pipes.

let's face it, however you dress it up, an XC60 is never going to be sporty... so take the SE if it's the better car (options) and accept it'll be a nicer place to be.

I also read that the R-design suspension makes it pretty crashy with no real added benefit to having a stiffly sprung SUV. I am sure a T5 SE would show a D4 manual a clean pair of heels in most situations if you are concerned about that. And if you did ever take it on track (humour me here), it's unlikley that an SE owner will be there for you be quicker through the corners wink

My dealer has his ear to the ground on a set of 19"s for me, hopefully some they have knocking around from a display car, I'd happily buy them and run on the car, then take off when I give it back and sell. If you take the option, you pay for the upgrade in full over your lease, so poor value for money.

I'd have the R-design Lux over the SE, but not just the R-design... but it's all personal choice.

Interestingly, the XC60 brochure has very few images of the car in R-design guide, all the main literature and promo images are SE, most base spec too, not ever LUX (identifiable by black roof rails, not silver).

I'm looking forward to some wafting around for a change and hopefully a T5 auto will be a decent mix...

We have the XC60 R-Design D4 Lux Nav Geartronic with front and rear sensors, full leather, power boot (bad design that it doesn't close remotely) and heated seats. One thing I forgot to spec was the electric front screen, seems to take a while to defrost/demist. We went for Rich Java without seeing it in the flesh, takes a bit of getting used to but I really like it now.

Things are really bad if the vovlos a must have deal.

Seriously considering buying my car when the lease ends in march. Or extending if the figures add up.

No way am I being stuck for 24 months with a 3 star 'will do' car.

Are the goal posts being changed now? I thought this was about percentage of cost over term.

Any start of week deals emerging? Really hoping this is the week so I can get something for a start of March delivery (missed out on the Allroad last week).

So I pulled out of the XC60 SE Nav deal - I built the car numerous times on the configurator and Mrs Faxo was happy with the spec. Went to sign the finance docs, and there was an SE Nav there, but with halogen headlights. Asked the sales guy, who told me xenons were £1100 option! Mrs Faxo drives a lot at night, so xenon is a must on her cars. This is the configurator pic, which is 'my Volvo', clearly showing xenon headlights!

Back waiting for a decent Tiguan SEL or R Line deal!
I imagine there will also be a line under the picture on the configurator saying the image is for illustration purposes only. I find it strange you went on the configurator numerous times and didn't check the options list first silly

This is the point - because something is cheap doesn't mean its worth getting into. You are stuck with your choice for 2 years minimum. The self loathing feeling walking away from an embarrassing old shape volvo must be horrible. smile

Broccers, would you be so kind and tell me what I should have ordered, my only real requirements are large automatic load luger

We've got the old Tiguan and I'm seeing more and more negative comments about the new one - so there's some hope of deals in the not too distant future.

Once Skoda Kodiak gets going I think that will have an impact - it's interesting that VW are going to offer the 7 seater Allspace version of Tiguan in Europe when originally they said they weren't. SEAT Ateca is attracting interest from those who liked the size of the old Tiguan and don't need anything bigger.

Having said that, R Line lead times seem to be very extended at the moment due to component shortages so that would mitigate against deals.

Ah but there's a distinction to be made here to avoid confusion - jonny996 'needs' a large automatic load lugger (correct me if I'm wrong). He doesn't have to 'want' it. I suspect his 996 fills that role. And herein lies the success and imo perfect rationale for leasing the vast majority of modern sub-40k cars. They're all much of a muchness in different shapes and sizes IMO. If you actually 'want' a particular car you would probably keep it longer than a couple of years anyway negating the point of this thread. Maybe you get lucky with a car that you both want and need. Unlikely though - at best you get a slightly more fruity drivetrain choice in the shape of your choosing.
