WRT the A6, I have been informed by my broker that the dealer is onto Audi UK to see if they can reallocate some slots and accelerate delivery. I ordered my A6 Avant Black back in May with mid-August delivery. This is now pushing back to October potentially, which is less than ideal. Broker (Claris) has been very open and honest about the situation and will allow cancellation without penalty if they can't sort it. No money has changed hands, and the broker is being professional about the situation so I'll just wait and see I guess.

Anyhow, if you're in no hurry for a car this popped up on my radar today. Not as cheap as previously and 'only the 218' but may suit someone who missed the Allroad deals -

Hi mate,

I am in the exact same problem with the same broker for my a6 black edition. Ordered in mid May with mid August delivery but Claris has no idea as to when the actual delivery will be. What action will you take? I was thinking about cancelling but I can't seem to find a deal as good as the a6.
I'm holding for now. In fairness to Claris they have been easy to communicate/deal with and it's not their fault. They are trying to resolve, although I can't see it happening before October. The Audi tracker hasn't moved past order received since May and the lead times are what, 6 weeks from build to delivery? Think there is a factory summer shut down coming as well.

It's a nice car, but if a decent alternative deal comes up I'll cancel. I've also asked Claris to see if they can offer an alternative from stock (E Class?) to retain my business. They seem a decent company compared to some of the horror stories on this thread so happy to let the situation unfold and give them the opportunity to resolve before I decide. At least I have an order number!

I just got a quote for the E class and its much more than the A6 deal. Betterr of waiting for the a6 i guess until October. Should we request for some sort of compensation due to the delay caused?

I agree it does seem like a decent company and the communication is excellent! I was given an order number after 2 weeks of ordering however it does not track on youraudi!

I'm going to go over mileage on my Golf GTD by about 10,000 miles which I've assumed will cost me £720.

But I'm sure I read something the other day (sorry cant find it again) where someone had called VW Finance and the gave him 10,000 miles for £360 because he'd called up front.

Does this sound right? Thanks.

Yeah, I've heard that. Seems you have to make the call about a year before the end of the lease though.

It can be hit and miss. It'll likely depend on the current perceived resale value of the car vs what was originally set as the likely value. If your cars residual value at return is looking low compared to what was expected they'll be less likely to make a good offer for excess mileage, and vice versa.

VW seem to be more reasonable about it than most other marques, and the 7.2p excess is low in comparison to most anyway.

The only way to find out is to ask VWFS, not an internet forum :-)

Audi A6 Saloon 3.0 TDI Quattro SE Executive 4dr S Tronic

I feel very fortunate that my Allroad arrived so quickly (ordered 25 April, delivered 7 July - factory build).

Dull alloys compared to other A6s, but the ride and handling on the air suspension is worth the compromise in looks. Surprised how good the standard stereo is, too - it has loads of speakers including tweeters either end of the dash and the centre dash grille does house a drive unit. The basic sat nav is utter pants though - I thought I'd get by with the smaller screen but the map resolution is low, it doesn't fill the screen and it's slow to use (even just zooming in and out). Based on how much I like it, in 2 years' time I shall be looking for an S6 Avant or S7 since they come with the HDD nav as standard.

That's such a good looking car. The Allroad is very well proportioned to my eyes. I remember discussing with you at the time - I'm not jealous at all! Air suspension, quattro and the 272 engine on relatively high profile tyres must make for a compelling package.

If you order now it may just be built by then...

I doubt there's any compo due - no money has changed hands and there's still a chance that the vehicles could be delivered within a reasonable time frame. I'm fairly relaxed about the whole thing as production delays are to be expected with bargain deals as I assume they exist to (over?) fill factory capacity. Claris have assured me there's an out from the contact without penalty, so I am happy to let the situation unfold and take a view later on.

To anyone who ordered one of the A4 deals, once the car was built and awaiting shipment to the UK, how long did it take to arrive at your house?

Thinking two weeks to get to the UK and maybe another week to get to me? Close or way off the mark?

Thanks.

Frankly I think a lighter colour would have been a good idea - the Moonlight blue is pretty much grey and the grey body addenda just blend in while making the car look grubby. The perils of ordering after only seeing it on the configurator!

@ 43034; assuming your A4 comes from Germany it presumably leaves on a car carrier from Emden. Mine was on a car carrier within a week of arriving at Emden, took a day to land in Immingham and then took about a week to get to the dealer in the UK. Then delivered a few days later by a third party delivery company (it went to Leeds Audi initially, then was moved by car transporter to the former US air base at Upper Heyford from where it was driven to me).

I have recently made the call to VWFS regarding mileage. I'm 7 months in and unfortunately my office changed and I was driving 100 miles a day.

The chap on the phone was really helpful, we took worst case scenario that I'd do 48,000 so an extra 32,000 on top of my 16,000 over the two years.

i received the quote through over the weekend and it's an extra £960 inc vat which works out to be 3p a mile.

Or an extra £60 a month for my remaining 16 months.

Hope that helps.

I've heard that too. Because Merc don't have enough off road cars already with the GLA, GLC, GLC Coupe, GLE, GLE Coupe, GLS and G-Wagon... biggrin

I have just popped into a Seat dealer regarding the Leon Cupra deal posted in the old thread (I wanted to see what one was like) and they pretty much laughed me out of the showroom on the prices. Does anyone have any first hand experience of Freedom Leasing? They said there was no way it could be legitimate at those prices. Thank you.

You missed the GLT which is due soon, although that's commercial only I believe. Oh and 4Matic version of the A Class, CLA, C and E to come. It's a nightmare trying to learn the specs of everything laugh

The A4 is built in Ingolstadt I believe. So it has to get from there to Emden, around 3 weeks seems a pretty good guess then.

Thanks for your reply beer
