It's probably too early for good deals on the Disco - but why does it matter?

If the fact that a Disco5 appears to be basically twice the price of the extremely competent and comparable XC90 is immaterial to you, why wouldn't you buy the Disco with cash and take the chance that depreciation will be less than £23k? (Or indeed, just buy or lease a Range Rover Sport!)

BMW 5 Series Diesel Touring
535d M Sport 5dr Step Auto
Business Lease Deal
£319.00 Per Month, EXC VAT
Rental Profile 6+23
Annual Mileage 10k Miles p/a
Initial Rental £1,914.00
Halliwell Jones Wilmslow BMW
01625 836449

About to agree these terms for the current (old shape) 5 series touring. Previously had the 335d xdrive - what a car! but new addition to the family requires more space.

I think it is a pretty good deal, but open to suggestions for other comparable cars with big engines Audi A6 and Merc E Class if anyone has found any other good deals?
That works out around £11,100 for 2 years if you add VAT on top. Few people have signed up for an S5 for similar money, which is about £5k more expensive on the road according to Evo.
I was looking at 535d or 335d so i could cancel my S5. Around 2 weeks ago there were offers of 335D for £9500 for two years inclusive of VAT. Not sure if any were that price, but when i called, all they had were ones with £2k worth of options, pushing it up to my S5 price, so didnt go for it.
Would say its an alright deal but would be looking for it being £9.5k £10.5k all in over two years inclusive of VAT.

I'm not starting up one of those conversations, but why do you lease? (I do too)
For me it is purely because my wife cries like a baby if a car isn't new and it is just as cheap to lease than buy, quite often cheaper.
Does this apply to everyone? i.e. Is a brand new car a must?
Doing the rough maths on my wifes next car the cost over 3 years leasing versus a paying a loan off on a 1 year old car with 6k miles was 50%/£6000. No surprise there particularly - it is old news, it just made me wonder whether everyone is doing this purely because they love a brand new car this much.
Best start your own thread. This one's for lease deals.
Yes defo off topic but I'm amazed at what people are prepared to pay at the moment for relatively mundane cars on lease... I thought this was Pistonheads smilewink

Yup, standard spec. Urano grey.

Unfortunately doesn't include the fee, £180 fee to go on that. No dealer would get anywhere close to it though. Closest a dealer got was £360 on an SE Nav...after trying to push PCP for about an hour. Sigh. So fees were unavoidable frown
You were probably talking to the worng person if they were pushing PCP. Not sure what the correct job title would be but you need the business / fleet sales person (not the business manager - they look after the finance deals).

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I need the space, as even my 335d touring was unable to deal with the oxymoron that is the travel cot plus 4x4 sized pram last week on the way to the lakes. I think the S5 even in sportback would still be smaller than the 3 series touring. I have even been considering moving to the dark side and getting a big volvo xc90 as the deals on them are pretty good, but my machismo cannot bare that further strain. Just thinking of getting an M5 v10 touring and be done with it, but concerned with reports of the crap semi auto box. The unimagined hardships of father hood!

Precisely this. Land Rover offer very little support on leases, so if you definitely want a disco 5, it would be better to go down the PCP or loan route as, with decent residuals, you will have some equity in the car.

The Volvo is (relatively) well supported at the moment so much better offers on the table for what is essentially a very similar car.

Hey all

Am a newbie here referred over by another forum. In the market to get my first PCP for a mid-large SUV.

Went to check out the Skoda Kodiaq in person at the preview event @ local Skoda dealership a few days ago and it was a fine looking car. The car looks great, the interiors look a lot better compared to Skoda standards. Time for PCP deal hunting now.

Requirements are: Automatic + Rear view parking sensor / camera + Petrol(preferred). The more driver aids, the better.
Contenders: 1) Skoda Kodiaq SE L
2) Honda CRV SE Plus or EX or SR
3) Volvo XC60 Design
4) LR Discovery Sport
5) Audi Q5 or Merc GLC (although unlikely to fit in the budget)
Mileage: no more than 8000.

Hoping to pay a average monthly cost (all incl): ~£325-350 (less than 300 even better).
Not too worried about the initial deposit or the monthly payment, as long as the total money paid is less

Any suggestions on what to expect or anything that you have spotted would be very much appreciated.

Also had a question about the cons of "in-stock" cars if any?

Thanks a lot guys.

Just saying that if you are after a PCP deal then you wont find much here, this is the lease deal thread.

However, on the assumption that the payment route doesn't really matter, there are options for you.

1) Skoda Kodiaq - https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

Slightly over budget but don't think you will get an SE L in budget - amortised £371pm

2) Honda CRV - https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

Well within budget, amortised £239pm

3) Volvo XC60 R-Design D4 - https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

Within budget - amortised £297pm

Disco sport, Q5 and GLC are way out, looking at least £450pm amortised for that

Oh no, not someone else who may have got the terminology wrong, or perhaps simply isn't as informed as others when it comes to leasing or hire purchasing a car. I mean after a stunt like that he doesn't really need a car does he? Perhaps he needs a noose? Or one of your anoraks??

Why don't we just help the guy out rather than try and make him feel stupid?

We're soon to be in the same boat, only it needs to be auto which quite often bumps up the price. frown

I actually think there is a very wide confusion in the general public between PCP and "lease". On Jeremy Vine a month or so ago there was a bit about leases and it sounded like 99% of the time they were talking about PCP. And then there was that article a few pages back too which did similar IMO

In all seriousness though, I don't like the way that the PCx terminology has been used so we now have PCP and PCH, obviously very confusing to those not 'in the know' who need their food cutting up for them.

What was wrong with 'Finance' and 'Lease'?

That gave a very clear indication of what the two things were about.

Thanks for the link, but looking a car for 3 years the cost seems to be 459 per month on 9+35 deal (XC90), which is 20,206.12 vs 23,350.00. am i missing something here, or is the volvo only 3k cheaper over 3 years than the D5?

but agreed with above, taking advantage of the residuals would be best to buying PCP, is this where Oracle et al come into play as LR have 6.9%

The new Peugeot 3008 is apparently 'best in class' according to many reviews. Cheapest I've found on a GT Line which is a very nice spec is...

Amortised including £180 fee over 24 months works out at £268.66 (25.3% of the list price at £25,495)

I did get the terminology wrong and assumed the the thread might cover both - PCPs and PCHs. Perhaps should have known better on a site full of "Piston Heads" tongue out
TBH, I dont really care which payment route I go for; only care about the bottom-line going out of my pocket.

Thanks for those links mate.

For Skoda, I did find this on 2 and 4 year deals:
http://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/deals/skoda/kod...

Seems pretty decent.

Auto (and Petrol strangely) does seem to bump up the price, but the wife won that argument!
