I imagine with Brexit prices will generally be on the upward trend. You might get the odd deal due to overstock, but Brexit will be bad for the UK motor industry. No two ways about it. It's a self inflicted wound we deserve as a nation.
Oh dear

Sorry if I missed this, but which model are you talking about? Missus has an 18mth old Tiguan 150 4Motion DSG (with AdBlue) - I drive it quite a bit and the DSG works absolutely fine. Comparison point is the well-regarded 5 speed slush-box in my older Merc.
For me the gearbox functions perfectly. The shifts are sublime. It's just they happen at the wrong points in the rev range thus rendering driveability and performance entirely inadequate.

My DPF died in our Yeti at 13k. Common problem on a lot of VAG or BMW cars.
Is it? I personally know of 4 VAG cars (all common rails), plus my own, that have not had DPF problems

My one came off my Scirocco at 120k without any issues.

Did have a pressure sensor go once, but DPF was fine. To fail in 13k is either a manufacturing defect or misuse smile

Relatively cheap Smart ForTwo offer here:

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

3+23
£116.68
£360 fee
10k miles
Non-maintained
In stock
Total cost £3393.68
= £141.40/month

Don't think it's as good as the offers a few months ago.

Don't forget to check out the dealers direct for cheap lease deals, for a similar small car/cheap deal our local Citroen dealer was offering ex stock 4 door C1 Flair's (all the kit) on 18 month contract hire for a month down and just over £100 per month with 9k total miles. Ours is going back next week and it's been completely hassle free runaround motoring for loose change in car terms.

Thanks for the remoinder, I do tend to forget there is life outside this thread worth investigating! lol

A friend's daughter has just got one of these as her first car - seemingly very good review from her and her dad, although they got the bigger engine version, I think, which may make a difference to the drive.

You jest, but I'm considering one for a 100 miles a day commute! Sadly we can't all afford to lease Beemers and Volvos and whizz-bang turbo 4wd VAG cars worth the thick end of £40k or more wink

Terrible choice for that mileage. Buy a barge.

Bit more information regarding the 4C offer. A few pages back I quoted the following prices with a dealership:

5k pa - 9+23 term - £295/month inc VAT
8k pa - 9+23 term - £317/month inc VAT
10k pa - 9+23 term - £332/month inc VAT

These prices are based on factory orders (with a 6 month lead time), so it's taking into account the VED increase.

If you can find a dealership with a stock car and it's delivered before 31st March, then you can get approx. £15 off per month. Essentially you'll save about £400 over the term.
Test drove this morning, amazing car!

There are no 'base models' in the network or currently scheduled for build that aren't customers cars but they are quite a few reasonably spec' cars available.

Sleeping on it tonight

Not to mention if the OP is doing 100 miles a day an Astra or similar should be more comfortable at the speeds such a commute will require.

Idling the afternoon away and found these two. Both pretty much fully loaded.

Volkswagen Passat Estate 2.0 TDI R Line 5dr DSG (Panoramic Roof)
3+23 8k pa

Unfortunately I found the DSG box on the VW Battleship to be woeful. It seemingly made sure that you never had any torque available with its awkward gear changes in both Sport and Normal modes... admittedly I only used it for a day as a loaner.
Have a look at the Alltrack thread - the Passat 2.0TDi 190 with DSG is woeful. The Alltrack is heavier with the 4x4 system, so not sure if that makes much difference - I tolerate it at £130 for 3+ 23 and it is really great at carrying st around and when cruising with the ACC turned on.

not quite a best lease car deal, but for reference this is what I had from my local dealer on a 2 year lease VW Golf R (310), 5dr, DSG, standard spec;

8k per year
Initial - £1583.31
23x 527.77

£13722 total for 2 years, not including maintenance. So I work that out @ over £570 per month amortised!..

Bargain, may order 2 smile

Nearly spat my tea all over the keyboard - either VW expect very low residual values or the dealer is trying it on!

Cheaper to buy and flog.

Hmm, my dealer has only offered me a PCP deal. I'll have to ask about lease deals. The PCP deal I have is:

£8k deposit
£1k VW contribution
35 x £284.93
£15637 balloon
APR 4.9%

I've no idea how to compare this to lease deal!

There's no need to use a local dealer, any dealer will do. Delivery is included in the lease price.
Some dealers just aren't competitive on lease cars, it's not like cash RRP where they are all much of a muchness.

I just think people are trying to force Golf R's. The deals are bad and until VW see a sheer drop in orders, the prices will stay bad.
