Best Lease Car Deals Available? (Vol 3)
Discussion
Arval lease return:
Just some information for those worried about returning a lease car. My car was returned last Friday, the inspector took ~30 photos detailing the general condition and specific areas of damage (chips, scratches, curbed alloys). His job is just to document all wear and tear. An email of his report was instantly sent to me. Another assessor back and base makes the "fair wear and tear" assessment. Yesterday I received an invoice for excess wear and tear. It was all very clearly detailed and reasonable. Most chips/scratches were deemed fair wear and tear, the alloys x3 were £60 and one scratch £80. No excess was charged for the 400miles over allowance, nor the 4th alloy that was curbed. All very reasonable in my eyes.

Hi can anyone help. I'm looking for a Golf R Estate lease deal, on the new 310 version.
Ideally a small deposit, over 24 months @10k miles.
Current deals don't seem what they were a year ago and the best I can find is through Yes Lease 1+23 at £394 / month.
Forgive me if this is an obvious question but is now a good or a bad time to pick up a deal? New model so in short supply, so less deals, but as it's new, lower depreciation so potentially better deals? Also end of March is historically a decent time for lease deals. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated? I'd rather hold out a bit longer if deals are likely to pick up...
Maybe trying asking on the VWROC website. I bought mine, so cant answer about the lease options. It seems the R has been pretty popular for leases. I have the estate and you wont regret getting one, it's an amazing all-rounder. I do prefer the current version rather than the facelift R, but good luck in your search. Ideally a small deposit, over 24 months @10k miles.

PS: I don’t know why the R’s were so cheap a year ago. There seemed to be so many lease deals on the R. I got a 20% discount on my purchase, but you are right, those deals definitely aren’t there anymore.

I have a car going back to Hitachi on Friday, so I will post my findings too. I know I have 3 alloys with light curbing over the free size, a small tear on the boot side of the back seat, also 1700 miles over.Just some information for those worried about returning a lease car. Had an R myself great all round cars and even had a second one coming but cancelled it as soon as the facelift was announced. It was made nicer by the fact it was 207 a month though!

I've got a car going back to Hitachi in July, but with a big scratch from a neighbourhood crim. My current plan is to take the hit from Hitachi, rather than the local bodyshop as their quotes seem to be based on "what's your excess mate?".
FYIArval charge £80-160 /panel for a large scratch to primer.
I once had a whole door resprayed to remove a big scratch. ~£200 IIRC. The bodyshop (National chain) offered a supposed 50% discount for customer direct jobs.

What's it been replaced with?
(Sorry if you've said already, can't remember.

I had a customer get a door painted (badly), and the leasing company chraged him to have it painted again. I don't think I'd get any refurb done before sending a car back
Do they tend to charge per panel or if it needs a few scratches sorting just one fee as it has to go to be done? I'm not talking acres of respray or anything!TomScrut said:

You'd need to check your paperwork, usually it's per panel. If you've got one foot long deep scratch you may as well have half a dozen as the whole panel will still need painting
Yeah my issue is it goes down the side of the car (bumper wing and two doors) and I think it is into the primer so more than what I can sort out I think but probably not a respray of the panels just touching up from somebody who knows what they are doing. I emailed VWFS about getting the cost matrix a few days ago and they haven't replied yet. The one I have seen online says per wheel w.r.t. alloy damage but not per panel w.r.t. scratches etc.I'm just trying to gauge what other people's experiences are as I have often found answers to these sorts of questions very vague at best from the people who actually decide as they think you are trying to get them to commit to something.
