Clean my leases via the polish car wash guys once a fortnight in summer....in fact, just had the first clean of the A45 since last November...it was black (its a white car!)

Once leased a C350 for 2 years and cleaned it once the day before it went back.

Car inspectors are not stupid - a scratch is a scratch, a clean car doesnt make that better or worse. And any modern car can get cleaned after months of not bothering and look pretty good. My car is as clean today as if I'd been waxing it all winter. I've had 6 leases and never been billed for anything other than stuff I should have been (badly done alloys, etc) and never had something where the car being dirty or clean made much difference.
Not disputing that at all. I just like my cars being clean inside and out. It might be a lease but I still wouldnt drive around in a car that hasnt been washed more than once. Were all different though! You dont take the same approach to your undies do you?

The DSG box is just about the best semi-auto on the market. Very fast changes, smooth up or down, and instantly-responsive paddles. Fantastic bit of kit. You will never go back to manual for a weekday car.
Completely disagree with this - DSG is worse of both worlds, not best. It may depend on the drive train, but on my 190bhp Tdi Passat Alltrack in Auto mode it is too slow to respond - all the drive modes involve a compromise of one type or another.

Manual mode is better than auto - but I might well have a manual gearbox, as it is not as good as a normal manual and refuses to let me change up or down when I want as it decides it knows better.

I have also driven some other DSG cars - Golf gti etc and still not impressed. Much prefer a proper auto over a DSG.
DSG is very good, but the latest 8 speed ZF box is sublime.

Regarding lease extensions - we lease through Select (backed off through Arval) and the lease ends this Dec for our Polo GTI. Had confirmation we can extend for a further 12 months at the same monthly - £134.

Always worth a call or email before your lease expires if you would be happy to keep the car for another year.

Pro's and con's for both. The ZF box is very good but how good it is depends on the software used. The ZF box in my dads BMW 640 GC performs notably better than in my new S5 where it can feel lumpy at times.

I agree in ours but I should say it worked well in the petrol 220bhp Skoda Superb I drove.

I think it may be a VAG diesel thing.

It's no good telling us about a lease deal if you are not going to share the details!

What term and how much per month, inc. VAT?

biggrin

Strangely, I did lease recently - the 2.0 TDI 150 Superb SE Technology Estate from Simpsons Skoda, on a 1+23 with 10k miles. £256.13 p/m amortised. No options, but they throw in Metallic paint for free (quartz grey for me), so this means that it passes the 25% test (just). We needed a cavernous car, as a small human has been living with us for almost 18 months and seems to have us carting loads of his things around with us.

Will wave goodbye to the Leon FR 184 in June. It's been a cracking car - not a single complaint in the time we've had it so far (17k miles). If the diesel vRS estate had been on a better offer, I'd have been all over it.

Got a couple of good offers.

CK - triple pack - 89p per month inc VAT on a 3+23 term.

Primark - 6-pack - 69p per month inc VAT on a 3+23 term.

Maintenance package adds 5p per month.

Generous wear and tear guidelines too - the odd skid mark, a couple of holes (no bigger than 5mm) etc. is fine. Deals are with Central Undies Leasing UK (CUL UK) and Undies4Less (U4L).

£249.99 admin fee.

Free nationwide delivery.

Wow, the admin fee dramatically reduces the viability of the deal!

£1438 + £159.83 for a total of £5114 + VAT = £6136 + admin fee vs £7482.

In an attempt to get a better deal of course. No admin fee and lower excess mileage fees

Oops, missed that - in that case it's probably pretty good for a 4WD. Obvious question - is 4WD essential?

Skodas really have come on - I do quite like these and the Superb. Shame the Octavia facelift is a bit weird from the front. Reminds me of the E Class from 2 gens ago.
