325ti, 330ci. Mx5 or MR2 if you don't need the back seats?

325ti would be pick of them for me but they seem very hard to find (the right one) just now

Why the hatchback requirement? Get an MX-5 or something. Lots of rwd cars that are cheap to insure

Fair point. It was a tongue in cheek suggestion.

Z4 convertible would be an option for the OP, obviously not a hatchback though!

Yes. ALL of it, for the entirety of your ownership of the vehicle. They love to drink whatever they can get their grubby triangles on, thats before all of the 'niggles' show up.

RWD hatchback is a strange combo IMO, either get a great FWD hatchback (Clio Trophy) or RWD (MX5, MR2, S2000 et al).

Škoda Rapid

rear engine, rwd.
Massively under rated drivers car but hardly any left now and parts supply is probably in the distant past.

Would make an interesting retro restoration project.

Put 205's on the rear, 185's on the front and lower it a bit, more at the front. A Fiat TC will fit...

I'm almost talking myself into it!

Mazda 323 - I had a T reg 323 hatch it was rear wheel drive.

That's a 1979 T reg not a 1999 T.

Bmw 325 ti is the correct answer (find one with sports seats in manual form).
Me too! Mine was a 1.4sp and came standard with 5 speed and Weber carb. In fact, there was a 1 make race series for ''Dumpy's" as they were known. Great fun, especially when we stuck a 2 litre pinto in it.

BMW 325ti with an LSD is a real blast and they sound great.
