Do VAG still do diesel versions of the seat Cupra's/Skoda VRS's? I had one of the old 1.9tdi fabia VRS which was a right hoot, returned 30+ on a track hoon and 50+ on my commute.
Not keen on hatchbacks! I only want Coupe or Saloon!

Still struggling to find something i like frown

It might not be "fun" in the purest sense of driving pleasure, but I can imagine that a diesel SLK250 (204bhp) would be a relatively interesting place to crunch miles frugally. Folding steel roof also gives you the best of both worlds, and should be achievable for under £15k.

My Z4 Coupe 3.0si does over 35 MPG on a run (best was 38 MPG). In a straight line it will likely demolish a GT86. It won't handle quite as well, but its still pretty damn good and I have a lot of fun with it. You'd get a lot of change out of £15k as well. Worth considering, OK its only a 2-seater but it'll feel far less of a boat than the bigger cars being suggested. Nice blend of sport and luxury (mine even has heated leather and cruise!)

Yeah TBF the GT86 has cruise and heated seats, I get 34mpg out of it as well, just a shame to be putting 16k miles a year onto it!
