Just spent an interesting 20mins playing with the search feature on car and classic... that's thrown up a few I hadn't considered before that might fit the bill...

Could be worth playing around with search engines and seeing what you can find.

In the past I have had a defined type/spec in my mind and gone with something totally oddball as a result of playing around on C&C smile

(Awaits C70R approval! winkbiglaugh )

If you were looking at a classic, I reckon the options would be almost limitless. I can think of 20 classics that I'd want to own under £20k!

I did consider another classic (MK2 Escort or maybe a rough Porsche 912 project) but to be honest I don't have the time or the will power to spend fettling another classic. At the moment I really want something that I am happy to let my little one travel in and that doesn't require a lot of ongoing maintenance. Therefore I think it will have to be something newer this time around. I also already have a classic so I can have that type of driving experience whenever the mood takes me.

I limited the search to 2000s and later, so cars under 15 years old smile

C5 Corvettes seem a bit of a bargin, as do 5-10 year old Mustangs. (Anything American or Aussie actually)

Merc CL, CLS and SLs are cheap - but then you probably need £3-7k set aside to sort the inevitable suspension and ignition issues...
