2 tiny kids and you bought a huge bus. I really don't get people.

Except he hasn't.

The Tiguan isn't that big it's all the clutter that goes with kids that takes up space (I await the typical responses of "when I were a kid there were 6 of us in the back of a Vauxhall Chevette and it never did us any harm" brigade).

I have 2 kids. Never needed a bus for "all the clutter". Having kids does not necesitate taking a vanload of crap everywhere but each to their own.

Nice choice, OP. I think you'll enjoy it.

You can manage with a Peugeot 107, in the same way as you can live off baked beans to save money, and sit on cardboard boxes instead of furniture... but life is easier and more pleasant when you choose something nicer. smile

When I was young, my dad drove three of us around in a Transit while we say on a sofa in the back, having great fun as it slid around during corners... eek Sometimes, managing like our parents did is not a good model to emulate. wink

It was good for me yes. I didn't have to buy a soft roader just like anyone with 2 kids doesn't.

My parents talk like this too. Whenever I mention something that might improve the lives of myself, the wife and children she always comes out with "your Dad and I managed when you were kids". I've explained so many times that I want to do more in life than simply 'manage', but it doesn't seem to work. My mum had a classic mini for years, doesn't mean it's the best way to go with 2 kids does it!

So the bus wink loaded up today for a visit to the outlaws
Pleased that the pram plus bassinet plus seat fit in the boot alongside the dog proudly sat on her bed. With a bit of fiddling the load cover actually fits underneath the boot floor which is a nice idea. A retractable load cover would be even better but not an option so far (there is an aftermarket one for the Mk1 Tiguan so maybe one will follow for this one)

The rear seats move forward quite a bit and even with two car seats installed there's still plenty of gap between the kids and the front seats. So we would easily do an overnight or two - I think anything longer and we're into roof box territory.

Sneakily I turned up the air con in the back so that the kids slept the whole way smile

The car is awesome on the motorway, radar cruise and dynamic traffic sign recognition make navigating the numerous 50 limit roadworks so much easier. With DSG and blind spot cameras etc I bet it would be even better.

Noticed that the LED headlights have some clever masking system so you can leave them on full beam and they block off the areas to prevent blinding other drivers, quite mesmerising to watch.

Gratuitous dog and pram pic
