Did we do boots recently, as in, which are the best? The search function, when I tell it I want to search for the term "boots" in BB only, helpfully points me to a thread about a broken boot catch on a VW Fox…

My ancient Sidis are past their best, and my little incident this week highlighted that there is a 2' gap between the top of my boots and the bottom of my knee armour which you can be sure is at the same height as a bruise-inducing Golf bumper. So it's new boots time.

Waterproof (properly), comfortable, and as high-legged* as possible please.

*No pictures of FMBs ta, I know where to find those wink

The best boots I've used are Daytonas. Properly waterproof, all day comfortable and last ages.
My first pair lasted 10 years, and have been retired because the look awful and the soles are worn smooth. Still comfy and waterproof though. The 2nd pair are more of the same.
I bought mine from FC Moto in Germany for a good discount (almost £100) but I don't think you would save that much now.

Daytona here too, if you know your size and exchange rate is good then buying from Germany as above can save you £70-80

Ive got some "Strive" which are waterproof and mid range boot

I have some sidi st goretex. They are great.
Very protective and standing up to abuse well. Totally waterproof. Comfortable and can walk in them. I've worn them from -10 to 40 degrees C. Driven through puddles all sorted.

Not crashed in then, but no doubt they'd hold up from other reviews I've seen.

Warm, waterproof (so far), & light, given their size/chunkyness

I got these at Christmas and I'm very pleased so far. Not particularly high (mid-shin) but comfy and gore-tex. For the price I am impressed.

I have Daytona Evo GTX boots and they're fine but my previous boots were the Pumas and the Daytonas are no better but significantly more expensive. My next pair will be Puma GTX

I started looking at adventure boots because of the gap from boot to knee armour and found the ski boot style clips really good for a comfy fit.

I got these for Christmas and wore them the first time today. They are warm enough, sturdy, light weight and can be tucked under jeans.

I've used A* SMX Plus in the rain with no issues at all. For dry rides I really rate their Supertechs too.

Those do look pretty good, but I have some Alpinestars enduro boots and on my old R1100RT, I couldn't get them under the gear shift. My 1200 has been taken away for assessment/repair now after Wednesday's shenanigans so I might have to wait til its back before ordering boots so that I can try them.

I picked up my Daytona evos up for about £120 on ebay iirc, lovely bargain, unfashionable but stonking build quality and renewable outers

I he a pair of Alpinestars SMX-S's I got for around £80. Lasted me 5 years or daily use, track, commuting. Everything. Finally died at a crease around the ankle.

Replaced with SIDI Roars. Lasted 2 weeks. The plastic wore a hole near the upper heel. These went back and were exchanged for SIDI ST's wore these on as off for about 6 months. Now the Velcro has failed and they are now in for assessment (up to a month). If they offer a replacement I may just see if the shop will let me add in some cash and move to a different make.

I know the Daytonas are well regarded, and apparently high quality, but they all seem very low on the shin to me? I really down something a bit longer.

I've been wearing these for the last few years and they have been great, once broken in they are very comfortable and never let any water in, they work fine for me in both hot and cold... I've done about 18k miles in them and they clean up a treat .. so are wearing very well ..I've just realised they are discontinued now though so getting them in the correct size might be an issue but they are still about ..

Varies by model, check the real height on their website, theres 4-5cm difference in height between models even though they look similar
