Is this a ticking time bomb?

M6 V10 with 123k, new clutch and fly fitted but failed MOT on emissions apparently? At a guess it could be ECU, fuel injectors, Maf or something more serious...

I am sure the garage will have run a diagnostic through so does this mean it is one to be wary off as they are not bothering to fix themselves or a case of low price car (for what it is) with a small amount of work to be roadworthy... it would be nice if it were the latter but one has to be skeptical don't they??

In comparison with others it is around £1500 cheaper - maybe it should be even less if there are big bills looming - any thoughts from anyone - I have zero experience with these cars.

I wouldn't touch it personally, unless you were an expert on this car and got it checked properly.

Too many miles, too many unknowns and you said yourself you don't know this model

Could be a gem, but probably not!

Coming from a Trade seller they're bailing out for a reason. Run and hide.

I wouldn't run one of these on a budget. Running costs over a couple of years can easily eclipse that sticker price. Get a decent example or one with a proper warranty or look for something else.

Putting aside that it's an M6 (awesome car), the fact still remains they are asking eleven grand for an MoT failure.

Eleven grand.

MoT failure.

One more time...

Eleven grand. For an MoT failure.

Jus' sayin' wink

If you like the car, I'd go to the garage & ask them to give the car a (obviously agree a price beforehand) terraclean & then M.O.T it.
If it then passes the emissions you've got the car you want.

If it was an easy fix they would have done it and put it up for sale for a couple of grand more. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I owned one for six years from new. THey are immensely complex cars, ten cylinders with ten throttles, a complex ECU that is difficult to fix if it goes wrong. Amazing cars and ferociously quick…nine was delimited by Hartge and was a 200MPH car. I would be very leery of buying a huh mileage car.

Agree with all responses and have since seen some much better cars which surprisingly are not much more expensive, with fewer miles, pampered condition. They don't complex however will be doing some significant research now before looking seriously...
