But that makes sense. Ex-daily rental rather than ex-taxi. Makes sense.
Two previous... The OP's looking at the current V5C, with "an individual" name on it, and "1 previous keeper".

So first keeper - rental. Second keeper - taxi.

How do i find oasis?
I can't find it on google to do that.
It's an MB dealer tool. It's where the spec sheet posted earlier came from.

I took the car to Mercedes in Reading, and they hooked the car up and check the gear box, ignition, dash board etc and everything came up as true mileage.
As expected, it's an ex daily rental/multi-user vehicle. They should have made you aware of this prior to purchase. That's your reason to return the vehicle if you wish to. You may struggle to find a similar age, spec and mileage vehicle that was previously privately owned however, for the reasons given previously. If you do, it likely won't be the same price.

The rest is a case of not having been properly explained how the service documentation works for MBs and a lack of a proper handover, explaining features and controls, which is fairly poor customer service, but not a legal complaint as such. The spec as advertised is correct.

Gotcha. Probably sold to the second as approved used in that case, and from the MoT date and I expect date of last change of RK will have been used for private hire by a sole trader/one man band for a bit.

Dealer will be aware of it. Part ofmthe used car purchase process for us is getting the person to confirm that the vehicle has never been written off, is clear from finance and hasn't been used for hire or reward. Of course, people can lie, but dealers aren't usually that daft/naiive...

The v5 last owner was a name which i guess would have been the taxi driver.
can't remember what it was now.

duplicate mot certificate, showed it was mot'd in luton, along with the active licence.

it was not owned by mb, as they were allowed to tell me that info, but no more than that because of data protection.

the £79 mb diagnostics showed nothing untoward with the milage, and they did a full check.
still am not 100% convinced though.

Hopefully i will be successful at rejecting the vehicle via finance company because the dealer, when asked withheld information from me at point of sale.

Park assist is on there, saw the blue p today so not mis sold by features, only by history.

mb said they weren't allowed to tell me who owned it, except that it wasn't them, so what rental company would likely have kp as a reg?

Even if it is true mileage, still don't want to keep it, they should have told me and then it would have been my decision.
Irritated i am now having to use my other car that is over mileage when I have that on the drive.
Will try and push them for an answer today.

You can. That registration has a still-current TfL licence.

MBUK supply rental companies directly, AVIS as stated by the person who posted the OASIS spec sheet. Data Protection restrictions apply to individuals' personal data, not incorporated businesses...

Absolutely, that is your prerogative and it's what should have happened according to Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading regs and OFT guidance for dealers states.

Previously, if asked specifically, we had to answer truthfully. But that relied on the customer asking the right questions, now the onus is placed upon sellers to voluntarily disclose any material fact that may influence a decision to purchase, there's no requirement for the consumer to have to ask. If you did and they either obfuscated or lied, then they are a) idiots and b) screwed.

Well OP it looks like you now have enough evidence to give the car back, so it looks like a good job of investigating from PH forum members.

To me a car being a rental isn't a deal breaker but the taxi part would be for me.

Indeed. As the man said - where else do people think all these 1yo, 10k mile cars come from?

I suppose if the mileage is legit and the car looks and performs well then it may not be such a bad car..

Every taxi Ive been in has been driven like miss daisy to maximise the fuel consumption.

Tongue in cheek.

Finance company said they don't want to know.
