I love my Cooper S too and I've had much more powerful cars in the past, yet this one has brought so many smiles and I like how you can have fun without doing serious speeds, I love it's handling and it's involving and enjoyable to drive.
Best car I've ever owned is my first, 1982 Austin Mini HL, all 54BHP of it.

So fun.
When I first started driving a friend of mine had a 850 Mini, and I never had a go in it and I wished I had.

Mine was a 998 but fantastic fun, had some great adventures in it and really helped my confidence driving too, also made me much less fussy when I look at any newer cars, comfort and noise are never a problem compared to that thing.

Me and a mate did 2000 miles around Europe in his Mini 1000 when we were 18.

Another mate lent us his Cobra bucket seats for the 10 day trip which were absolute luxury compared to the standard seats.

Loved it so much, on our return I went out and bought one for myself, £200 and it was a rust bucket :-)
Went on to own another 3 after that

I agree, mine was the R56 S but what a fun handling car, very neutral and would be quite a bh in the wet actually, in a good way.

Thankfully I had the MINI/Mondial warranty as not a reliable car, what with the Peugeot Prince engine N14. I managed to cook the brakes at the Ring too...
My dad had an R56 very similar to yours, his was a 10 plate so I assume it would have been the N14 as well. He loved his and managed to get shot of it before the reliability issues arose. He said it never quite compared to his R53 S though, said it lacked the drama of the supercharger.

Coincidentally I had a Ds3 with the N14 engine before my F56, with no warranty... never again.

Great times, mine cost me £2000.00 but it was loved and cared for!

Had subaru sti bucket seats in the front...
