Just a thought, but if they do this on a high percentage of sales they are 'sat' on money for a week+, does that mean they would benefit from interest based on the large sums they are receiving in daily?
Given that deposit rates are at zero, then no.

On the other hand, it’s costing them a lot less than borrowing commercially would.

4 days late, wow what a big deal. Does this really need a Public Service announcement????

You go online, tap in your car reg, get an offer and the car is sold. 8 days later you get paid. Terrible service, that. Meanwhile, I've advertised my car for 3 months without so much as a decent offer.

The glass is sometimes half full you know wink
Well yes, a company not meeting their payment obligations is one of the first signs of possible bankruptcy. That’s worth knowing about before you decide to give them an interest-free loan.

On the flip side, I got my money within 48 hours last week. The only chipped me £83 off my initial quote which was reasonable I thought.

Decided to book an appointment with WBAC.

Went in knowing I would be getting a knocked down valuation. The car needs 3 wheels refurbed and there are a couple of minor marks( it’s a 7 year old black Golf GTi).

Wasn’t expecting it to be a £1400 reduction! Claims there was more than 5 chips on the bonnet and bumper( I still can’t see them) so required a body shop repair at £600 along with 5 smart repairs required as well as the wheels.

Told him I wouldn’t be selling so he instantly added another £400 on( his wiggle room apparently) but no danger I was going to entertain them further.
Its always your choice if you want to accept or not.

I've used them three times now, just round the the corner from home, got what I wanted and paid promptly.

Don't use them, use www.motorway.co.uk

Much better.
Is Motorway still better than We Buy Any Car? In what way?

Sw8ngs and roundabouts IMO. Depends on what you are selling too.

I sold a Foxus ST to WBAC in 2018, it was 2 years old at the time and I got very close to what they offered online, transaction was fast and relatively easy.

Sold a Porsche Boxster via Motorway back in April, remember that Motorway dont buy your car, they are a middle man for dealers who bid in a 1 day auction on cars Motorway list.
My Porsche sold bang on estimate with Motorway and the dealer collected 2 days later and paid straight away.

Motorways platform was more awkward to list on as you have to take pics directly to the site, so can't use your own camera app and upload them later from your phone. Motorway offered a higher estimate than WBAC for the Porsche by quite a margin.

If both gave the same value or very close I'd use WBAC first.

I have just used motorway (a lot more received than WBAC quote)
the app was fabulous in giving a wireframe to position over the car to take each photo and then upload - mobile phone worked perfectly…

dealer was superb in communications and on the day - arrived, loved car, money was there 5 minutes later, v5 completed by them with confirmation to me at the same time… incredibly easy

Well, I'm grateful for the information. I'm thinking of selling and no-one is getting my keys until the money's in my account.
