The cheapest I could see tyres to be changed on my drive for the same speed rating which it needed to be, was around £190 a tyre. Add to that my time to arrange and be available etc, I think £170 is very cheap for what it was. I was expecting they would charge higher £200 per tyre.
Were you charged ex VAT pricing? The report you posted is all ex VAT.

Yes, total price was excluding VAT, as mentioned it was just over £1,200 all told.

Also says estimate, ex VAT, so have you even had the invoice yet?

It’s not a family wagon, it’s a pool car used by various people, probably why no one really took responsibly for it and checked. My wife and I both have our own cars.

Again as mentioned several times in this thread, lesson learned.
Is your profession related to the distribution of narcotics?

Those costs are all pretty reasonable. The only ones BCA need to do are the tyres. Everything else doesn't need doing and can be reflected in the lower cost of the car when/if it is kicked through an auction.

In my experience, it's always worth questioning it, (Even if deep down you agree it's fine)

About four years ago, Santander wanted to charge me £185 for a couple of light scratches.

I rang them up and said basically "I think that's a bit steep" so the lady said "OK, we'll just charge you £100)

A wise move by them, because I leased a new Mazda 3 for my wife a month later being satisfied with the service.

I don't think it's unreasonable for a hire company to expect a car to be returned to them cleaned inside and out and in nice condition, ( FAIR wear and tear excepted)

I haven't inspected myself yet, I was in a meeting when the person was here and only spoken to him on the phone. I will check shortly. The tyres have done 22k miles, so could be bald. Car hasn't been used in the last month, it's used as a car pool tyre car for the family.
How feckless can you get? I'm guessing since the BCA guy said 'tyres' he means that more than one are not roadworthy, ie more likely to be bald than damaged. In which case you deserve the grief this will cause you, perhaps it'll serve as a lesson to pay more attention to the state of your tyres in future.
I agree. I also think it’s a bit of a dick move to try and return a car with two illegal tyres. Then people wonder why lease companies add on more and more rules for return.

I think you’re taking the cake.
Anyway get two part worn tyres on and get it returned. I’d be shocked if an MOT brought anything on outside of tyres if it did come to that.
