Putting aside the specifics of this case money, sadly, affects how people behave and as a general principle it's not a good idea to lend money to (or borrow from) family or friends.

(Apologies if this has been said before, I've not read all replies above).

What a great investment smile) . The car doesn’t need fuel when it doesn’t run, a horse however….

I stopped at the bit where the OP said his stepdaughter sold her car to buy a horse.

Well if a horse is more important than your own personal mobility, then that's her hard luck!

I'll return to this thread next year when the OP tells us step daughter didn't sell the other horse, she didn't need to as step dad bought her a car smile
