I have a 2018 205 C63S coupe and it’s an epic road car, makes a great noise, is happy to pootle around in comfort and then attack in Sport+ or race. The hero (Sport+) mode lets you have fun before stepping in to stop you going too far. Super comfortable to travel in, I covered just over 200 miles today and it was very comfortable, suspension is firm but supple.

The coupe is the drivers car, wider tracks, longer wheelbase, stronger chassis, custom suspension, custom subframes, custom steering box etc etc, watch the YouTube videos from when it was launched.

Cost wise, yes it drinks a lot of fuel, 30 mpg on a run, 33 mpg on an easy run and 20(ish) mpg around town. Mine needs front and rear tyres every 15 to 20k miles but that very much depends on how you drive it. Services are £600 for an A and £1200 for a B at a Merc dealer but there are good indies around with Star access who can update the digital service history. Merc offer service packs I think I pay £60 ish a month to cover servicing.

It’s been very reliable in the 3.5 years I’ve owned it, a coil pack failed which cost £300 ish at an Indy. I also had the aux belts replaced as they were getting squeaky when cold and it ruined the lovely cold start noise. Other than that it’s had brake pads but nothing else. Pretty reliable for 510bhp, twin turbo V8.

A M3 or M4 will be a better fast road car if you just want to drive fast, I’ve driven a few but they don’t relax or sound anywhere near as good as the C63.

Buy my M2 Comp.

I'm getting an EV through work so can't really justify keeping what is otherwise a dream of a car.

Another vote for the M2. At your budget it would a Comp model.

Ensure it has both packs and you'll get all the tech youre looking for including ICON adaptive lights etc.

The interior in them is great. Seats are fantastic. Dash wont be to the latest gen 4 series, but i dont see that as a bad thing. I think its a good middle ground between old school and new tech.

Also you'll get in to like a 2019 or 2020 car with your budget. There are Approved Used too at that money.

Amazing cars for the money.
My plans for a 2 seater have been parked, which has led me to looking at these.

A late average miles Comp with both packs, from a main dealer, appears to be c.£36k. Is this roughly where they bottomed out or have they bounced back up a bit?

They bottomed out at around £34950 from a main dealer, sub 30K miles, both packs metallic paint.

There were a number of cars around that price over maybe a month long period, but they were snapped up really quickly.

£35,950 seems to be the starting point now with that criteria.

With a few more miles though, this car is on now at £35K - 35K miles.

This one has just popped up.

Pretty much the ultimate spec for a Comp IMHO - Hock Silver, both packs, sub 30K miles, Approved Used.... £34,950

RE: your other post - yes, at face value the F87 "should" hold its value well - retail of say a 2020 car to a 2018 car looks good, BUT and this is the big BUT the trade expect a very big spread between retail price and trade price, so it would be quite easy to take a large bath buying an F87 and trading it in a couple of years later.

Also, like all cars at that price point, they can be a hard sell privately.

I think thats not just with the F87 i think thats pretty much all M cars

Good choice in the new M2 as well.

They are certainly becoming very appealing now that the deals are better.

Look forward to seeing how you get on with it.

Yes they are starting to become a more compelling purchase.

At one point the BMW offering was something like £5000 down, £1000 a month which is laughable.
