I’m looking for a new (to me) family car with plenty of space. Narrowed it down to an SUV of some description.

Found and test drove a 2018 X5 40d - we liked the car, it seemed to drive well and I am going back to see it later this week for a dig around the paperwork.

Before I commit, am I missing any obvious alternatives in this price range? Doesn’t need to be the fastest thing in the world as will be the family car but something a bit interesting with a nice & reasonably spacious interior would be great.

Take a good look at the Touareg it's a very good option:

One car that's often overlooked is the Velar & they're a very good car, the 3.0d is well proven but like all the cars listed they can have niggles:

Cayenne:

It's always worth test driving a couple of alternatives just so you know.

Ah the Velar - I had not considered it. I marked JLR as too big a bork risk but I’ll take another look.

I’m not a fan of the Toureg or Q7 as I find their looks a bit jarring. Will do another trawl at different specifications to see if I warm to them.

Was looking at SQ5’s earlier but they seem a bit older for the money.

Would like a Cayenne but think I’m either right at the bottom of the market or having to compromise a bit too far on age/mileage.

I’m guessing the Toureg is the pick of the bunch reliability wise?
