Studying it again Chris it is growing on me smile I do think you might have gone a little too far for the reasons you explained above. I also think enlarging the upper vents might have spoilt that area and I'd have liked to see you attack the top side where the old spoiler used to attach, a la F40.

i like the look of them - but the clam will not be as strong as before
That doesn't matter though does it. Might flex a bit more in the airflow but that's hardly a problem. It adds to the rigidity about as much as a paper mâché one would.

While the whaler tail mesh was out i took a pic to show how the clam seals around the IC and box internally, its slightly differtent in my case as i custom made the IC to almost touch the clam, but note how the shape of the middle part of the clam leaves a gap above the IC, to sort this i have some EPDM foam glued to the clam, this keep the IC looking nice while clam is open..
but mainly you will see how air from the engine can just go into the whale tail , round the back of the IC and tall airflow through the IC..

also the cutouts are now meshed up and its looking a bit better finish..

did you just cut them out with an angle grinder / dremel ?

does the clam need painting again afterwards

I'm liking those, Chris - nice job! smile

I was actually thinking of doing similar cut outs to those, but a little smaller.

Do you have some full car photo's from the side / rear quarter we can see?

Regards

Graham

Cheers Mike,

Just dremel, i paint the inside lip black to match the mesh, this way the clam does not need repainting.
when you cut out with a dremel the paint does not chip so it gives a perfect cutout without damaging the surrounding paint.
