batt light

my batt light is staying on all the time although my batt is def charging.Does anyone know what the cause could be?

First guess is the voltage reg on the alternator.
Does the alt warning light dim on idle and get brighter with revs?
Try and unplug/replug the alternator connector a few times to clean it.

Do all the other warning lights work? Speedo? Reverse lights?

if you get the alternator wires round the wrong way, or one isn't connected doesn't it do this?

I developed the same problem the other day and called Jetstream, Dave reckons the black and blue wires on the loom heading to the alternator plug, have melted together. (As I also melted the wire that sends charge to the battery) so I need to replace those melted wires.

Alternative upgrade to stop flickering is just connect the black (I think) wire to the same bolt on connection as the battery charge point, and then just replace the melted blue (I think) wire to the plug.

There is also a small red wire with a push on connector that goes onto a spade terminal on the alternator , if this has come off the light will come on but will charge ok .

When this broke off on my car the battery light came on and the car slowly died.
