Good morning all,

If possible I could really do with some help putting together a few quick words about the M12 GTO. My car will be on display at a local event and I have been asked to provide the following:-

"Please provide 5 or 6 quick-reference statements for use by the commentator"

I am thinking the normal guff perhaps from wikipedia, but would anyone have some interesting facts etc I could throw in? Don't worry if not - just be nice to have some input from people FAR more knowledgeable than I! smile

Here's stuff I put together and laminated to place on the windscreen of my car at carshows.
Of course some of the accuracy will be debateable.
On the print-out I also included photos of the various models.
You may edit as appropriate:


NOBLE M12 GTO-3R

Build no: 109 out of 165 GTO-3Rs produced

Specification:
Engine Ford Duratec 2,968cc V6 with twin Garret T25 turbos
Transmission Getrag-Ford 6 speed manual with Quaife limited slip differential
Weight 1080kg

Factory options: 8.5 litre track day sump, oil pressure / temperature gauge
Aftermarket: ProAlloy radiator, ProAlloy oil separator / breather tank

Driver aids: None – no ABS, traction control, anti-roll bars

0 - 100 mph 8.8 seconds
Max speed 170mph
Braking from 60mph 38.2 metres
Power 352 bhp (357 PS) @ 6,200 rpm
Torque 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) @ 3,500 – 5,000 rpm

History of Noble Automotive Ltd:
Established in 1999 by Lee Noble, the previous designed of the Ultima mks 1,2 & 3, Midtek Spyder and Ascari FGT. Now based in Leicestershire, Lee Noble sold the company in 2006 and left in 2008 to set up Fenix Automotive. Currently in production is the Noble M600 supercar.

Model lineup:
M10 (1999 – 2000) 4 units (believed)

2-door, 2-seater convertible, powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5 litre mid-engine. 168 bhp. Similar in appearance to the MR2 with performance similar to a Lotus Elise. Because of its gawky looks, it was quickly replaced by the M12.


M12 GTO 2.5l (2000 – 2003) 92 units

2-door, 2-seater coupe, powered by twin turbocharged Ford Duratec 2.5 litre V6 mid-engine. 310 bhp
5-speed gear box.


M12 GTO-3 3.0l (2003 – 2006) 116 units

The 2.5 litre power plant was replaced with a 3.0 litre unit, and other improvements made such as a change in the ECU. Power was increased to 352 bhp. Later models were equipped with a 6-speed gear box and Quaife limited slip differential



M12 GTO-3R 3.0l (2003 – 2006) 165 units

Manufactured as an optional alternative to -3, the -3R stands for “refined”. Additional features include; faired in bi xenon headlights, leather interior, 10 spoke alloys, air-conditioning, additional in cabin sound proofing.

M400 3.0l (2004 – 2006) 75 units

Track variant of the M12, sharing the same body and chassis. The engine has been uprated to 425 bhp, and 0 – 60 close to 3 seconds. Indentifiable by the side pod scoops. Stripped of non essentials; leather is replaced with alcantara and aircon becomes an optional extra.

(a further 240 M12 GTO-3R and M400 units were exported to the U.S.)

M600 (2010 – present)

4439cc Volvo V8 (XC90) mounted longitudinally. Twin variable boost Garrett turbos. 0-60 3.2secs, 0-100 6.5 secs. 650 bhp. Top speed 225 mph. 6-speed manual. Weight 1,277kg
Price: approx £200,000

Noble cars not to make it into production:

M12 GTC 3.0l

A convertible version of the M12 was developed as a grand tourer variant. A single turbo charger was proposed resulting in 295 bhp. This allowed space for the provision of a small boot to the rear of the engine compartment. Targa roof elements mated with a removable hoop positioned behind the seats. The targa sections could be stored behind the seats, but the hoop would have to be left at home!



M14

Debuted in 2004 and based on the M12 chassis. New body and more up-market interior. Lee Noble decided that the car was insufficiently different from the M12/M400 to justify the price increase, and so cancelled production in favour of the M15.



M15

Production was initially planned for 2006, and then was proposed to be produced along side the M600. 3.0litre V6 longitudinally mounted producing 455bhp with a 0-60 of 3.3 secs and top speed of 185 mph

Noble cars in the U.S.

M12 GTO-3R and M400 models were exported to the U.S., accounting for approximately 240 units, using a left hand drive chassis.
In 2007, Noble sold the production rights for the M12/M400 to 1G Racing (now Rossion Automotive). Rossion released it’s developed version of the M400, naming it the Rossion Q1

Rossion Q1 (2008 – present)

Ford Duratec 3.0 litre V6 producing 450 bhp, 0-60 3.1 secs. Top speed 189 mph.

A track version, the RP120-R has recently been proposed, powered by Ford Racing’s 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine.

Wow! And I think I'll print a few dozen of these out and hand them to folks who regularly express an interest in my M400 and ask 'what is it?'.

Just think of the time I'd save....

Dave - happy for you to use it, or anyone else for that matter. Don't need a citation - it's all information that's freely available on the forum, wiki or the 'net. Only took a couple of hours to knock up, including piccies of examples of the various models.

Also happy for anyone to chip in with any corrections, or indeed further nuggets of info that may entertain the great unwashed. smile

It is indeed, I have amended it considerably though as I found out that they wanted a 'few' lines and have to tailor it the 2.5ltr GTO spec.

Quick list of things to make it more presentable at the show:-

- Repair crack in rear diffuser
- Fit new intake hoses
- Fit straight through pipes
- Serious detail inside and out

If I have time then the car will be off to South West Lotus for the floor to be re-sealed and fitted and new discs and pads.

I'm driving down Thursday night and taking Friday off work. I won't have many tools with me but more than willing to give you a hand with the pipes and hoses etc that's pretty straight forward. I will have my detailing stuff if you don't have clay bars, wax and the like.

As in this Friday?

I'm hoping that the week preceding the festival will be the time for the detail as otherwise it will only get wet / dusty / pollen covered when I take it out for the occasional hoon in-between.

Thanks for the offer though - liking this whole Noble community spirit!
