Help, loss of power
Discussion
Can anyone help please.
on way back home this morning 200 mile drive. Everything running well stopped for coffee 40 mins. Drove off onto 303 let all warm up again, went to overtake in 5th about 70mph & realised had no real surge of power & boost not going above 0 bar, could only hear slight whoosh/hiss from near side filter. Filters are bulk head mounted. Engine is running as normal but seems like rear turbo not working.
Any help much appreciated.

It will only open once boost is built to the required pressure which takes a takes a hard rev when not driving. Is it holding the wastegate shut though? The actuator should be pulling the bar into itself to hold it shut and allow you to build boost.
I take it you can't see a split or popped off pipe anywhrre on the intake system?

Done more checks all pipes are sound & secure, actuator pipe is connected & even if I rev hard the actuator pipe doesn't move, the gauge doesn't move either. Taken out for short drive & gauge still not going above 0 bar.
Is this indicating faulty actuator or could it be turbo.
Thanks.

Have you got a bike pump with one of those orange tapered adapters for blowing up lilos?
Attach that to the vac hose going to your actuator and give it a pump. No air should escape as you're putting pressure onto the diaphragm inside the actuator. If you get to 0.3Bar (or whatever spec your actuators are) the rod should extend. Remember 0.3Bar is just under 4psi so don't go pumping like it's a tyre, one or two pumps should do it.

Finally got round to having a proper look over the car earlier this evening at a friends workshop with his help,
First off checked all the hoses all secure & no splits.
Disconnected vacuum hose from tee piece feeding rear actuator & pumped small amount of air into it, enough for the actuator rod to move. Damn was hoping that was the culprit not too expensive to replace.
Then did same test on front one just to be sure, that too was ok.
Ok now thinking have buggered turbo.
Disconnected air intake hose to turbo compressor & fired it up, could see turbo veins spinning & wind down freely, all veins looked fine.
So turbos working, actuators working but have big loss of boost & can't hear noises from drivers side bulkhead filter.
Now thinking exhaust turbo blocked somehow, maybe catalyst broken down & restricting exhaust flow. Could this be the cause, the exhaust is standard on a 03.
So decided to call it a night & have a think over a pint.
I drive the car out of the workshop down the road sensibly but still can't hear any hissing & whooshing & I normally can even at low revs.
I Pull out onto a clear main road & press the loud pedal all the way, about 4500 rpm the rear turbo decides to play ball & catapults us like I've not been before. Holy s..t wasn't expecting that.
So my turbo is now working, did loads of variables & it's running as it should. I'm none the wiser as to why it packed up really but I'm just glad it's working ready for a good weekend of blatting.
