After a fair few issues recently the car has been running great the last few days. Come to turn the key today, massive back fire and now it idles at 3000 revs. What the hell is going on? and right before Sliverstone Classics.

Anybody have any clues what this may be? I have checked (what I think) is the vac pipe which attaches to the manifold and it seems to be okay.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Pipe under the throttle has popped off....

Put it back on and it'll be OK.

ETA - or maybe not. Could be a cracked manifold if the backfire was that severe frown

That's what I would have said and why it's now idling higher as it's sucking in more air.

The pipe work all seems in order with no restricted flow. Have serviced my BOV in case it was stuck open. I seriously hope it's not a cracked manifold.

I can't test it anymore as the battery seems to be dead.

Does anyone want to buy a Noble? I'm seriously getting ticked off with it,

This sounds like the old stuck throttle cable issue. Do you know if the car's had it's throttle cable rerouted and/or renewed?

It doesn't but have checked the cable and it's moving freely. The butterfly is also snapping back to a fully closed position. Cracked manifold would make sense as I can't find any loose pipes or leaks anywhere else. Am I right in thinking the manifold is from a ford escape?

Just a suggestion but has anyone looked at the st220 manifold being an alloy one, does anyone know what the differences are?
