Ignore mileage, buy on condition. All cars are 10-14 years old so it's now about how well they were looked after in that time. No car is what you would traditionally "high" mileage for a car anyway.

40K is only 4K a year.
Some engines have seen up to 70K I believe, if you start extracting more performance then things will wear out quicker. Manifolds used to be a problem, better than OEM options available now.
Turbos are turbos, they have seals + bearings that obviously wont last forever, Servicing per turbo can run from 350 upwards.

What I'm saying is why get hung up on mileage when they're all low mileage? Even a 70k car has only done 7k per year. I'd be a lot more concerned over the general condition of the car because whilst bolsters and gear gaiters can wear out with usage, rust can happen whether the wheels are turning or not.

Fair enough, it was more of a rhetorical statement than a question aimed at you. Depends also what you want the car for I guess!

I want it for weekend toy,I plan on keeping it for a while ....what I didn't want is to end up with a car in few years that needs engine rebuild and can't sell as millage is in say 50-60k mark

I think you really have to buy on condition. I waited over a year watching the market before buying mine as I wanted a 3R in the right colour with the right interior. It was slightly higher miles than others advertised at just over 33k however it had been maintained regardless of cost and had belonged to previous forum members who I had spoken to so was confident I was buying a good car. I think buy on condition and specification and if the mileage is lower then that is a definite bonus. I think the no. of owners is also fairly important as a 1 / 2 owner car with 60k miles in my opinion is better than an 8 owner 15k miles car for example.

When looking for my car I had to choose between two, a 32000 mileage car that had a replacement engine and turbos, a few previous owners from the forum and loads of history or a very low mileage, one owner car. The low mileage car just wasn't right, it just seemed old if that makes sense whereas the higher mileage car was amazing. It felt clean, tight, and well kept as it had been driven and serviced regularly. It had a few trips to Jetstream for servicing and they generally fix or replace anything else that needs doing while it's with them so I knew it was a good car.
