Carbon Fibre Rear Grill

I was going to make on of these over a year ago, but as usual i got side tracked doing other things.I know Adrian has done this and used the Reverie wing shaped fins.I looked into this option, but felt that there isnt enough air flow through the grill to warrant the cost or the effectiveness of the fins at over £160 per fin/wing, and using a min of four made it ridiculously expensive and according to reveries tech info,they weigh 500gramms a piece,which would have taken the total weight of the rear grill to nearly 3kg.I have also seen other options of the rear grill, from bigger mesh ones, to tube framed ones.
I opted to use pre preg carbon,to keep the carbon theme going lol, and here is the end result,and its super light too . I will post up some info on the difference in airflow through the rear grill form the standard mesh grill to this,although im assuming someone had already recorded the differences?? still to satisfy my own curiosity i shall perform the tests as soon as i can.

I think Reverie may have cocked up on there website, when you pick one of those aero sections they weigh next to nothing, definitely not .5kg

Were the Reverie items lead lined I would think 50g is nearer the mark!

The Reverie ones are foam filled, you'll have fun trying to break one, it's impossible, they are unbelievably strong.

They are over the top for this job, though you would need proper man maths to justify them, they do work well and have been tested in the wind tunnel at Mira.

I was hoping to test the difference in airflow, but been sidetracked this week end so far.
Adrian i would be pretty surprised if the aero foil fins make a big diff if any compared to the 2mm pre preg carbon ones im using, as there doesnt appear to be a huge amount of airflow through the grill.Once i test it and also compare to the origional grill,and collect some data,i may have to eat my words,so we will see.
