Got the intercooler of today and found the manifold bolts were slack tightened them up so see how it goes tomorrow. Pig to get into and tighten up a new gasket may be required.

Started the nobel up this morning and from cold it does not blow and ticks over fine .
Once warm it starts to hunt and blow from the joint at the turbo area.Would this suggest a gasket rather than a crack.
Thanks again .
Sounds like symptoms of a cracked manifold rather than gasket, when the metal heats it expands and the crack opens up and starts to blow. Will probably only be hairline so very difficult to spot without removing unfortunately. Trouble is they start to break off on the inside and that can then drop into the turbo causing even more problems.

Thanks all on further investigation cracked rear manifold very small hairline and hard to see.
Manifold at the joint with the turbo is slack to but bolts are terrible to get to.
What's the best place price for a stainless manifold.

Sorry to hear that Tuscany. Must say pretty impressed with the contributors to the issue, they were saying cracked manifold from the go. It never ceases to amaze me the wealth of experience/help/knowledge available on this forum (its a good enough reason to own one of these cars in itself).

Good luck with getting it fixed, keep us informed how you get on.

Hi Chris when do you get your car and what's caused you to remove the engine.
I am planning on taking the nobel this weekend to a recommended garage that do stainless exhaust and repairs let you know how it goes.

All being well, I should collect it in the first week in November. The engine was removed to have the clutch replaced and at the same time have the gearbox checked (the gear change could be difficult when hot). It has all been organised by Bespoke from whom I purchased the car as part of the sale/purchase. I must say they have been most conscientious about it, doing additional work that has presented itself as they have gone along (and checking the likes of the Turbo's and manifolds etc!).

The uprated Noble stainless items are very good and around £550 each smile
