Public interest seems low, but I have CarboTech XP8s on the front. They never fade, don't need much warming up and the stopping power, particularly on track, is extraordinary.

But they do squeal. When warm. Which takes only minutes in the summer. They squeal all the time. Only downside.

Cheers Lawrence I went for the DS2500 in the end bought from Camskill and so far so good they seem nice and progressive. Will keep the CarboTech in mind for next time.

Im also looking into pads at the moment, I have free travel for the top inch or so before any real feeling - Jetstream have bled the brakes etc.. and Dave has suggested that it is likely to be the pads.

From my previous life running a Celica GT4 Carbotechs were held in very high regard but I couldn't cope with constant squealing.

Have you tried anything to stop them from making so much noise?

I've heard amazing things about Carbone Lorraine: http://www.carbonelorrainebraking.co.uk/

Couldn't tell you what model they were but a friend's Boxster fitted with them nearly put me through the windscreen at the ring a couple of years ago.

Re Carbotech noise, it's a strange one.

Had XP8s on my impreza P1. They were sensational. And in the Alcon Prodrive calipers they never uttered a murmur let alone a squeak.

On the Noble, I had custom shims made (at a fair cost for two incredibly thin bits of metal) and used Ceratec paste which is rumoured to stop squealing and guess what? They still squeal just as much and constantly. Annoying on the motorway as my brain thinks if they are squealing, they must be rubbing and must be slowing me down. In town it's dull. Very dull.

But the stopping power and lack of fade is worth it.
