Wiper mechanism problem

Just wondering if its a common problem for the ball joint on the wiper mechanism to part. Its a very slack joint which easy pulls apart :-( The 1st time I noticed this was on a run out last year when the wipers decided they wanted a fight with each other :-( fortunately no damage done.
Not my car in the pic, but the offending joint is the one nearest the washer bottle, Any fixes for this? or is it a new arm/rod required....

I believe it's quite common but I'm a sample size of one. The brass ball on the mechanism the connecting rod attaches to seems to wear out; when new they are quite stiff to snap together and to pull apart require approximately 5 newtons less than in takes to break it, as will be familiar to anyone using the door handles and all Fiat owners☺

Yep, mine has always done this.

I drilled and tapped the ball joint and put a kind of top had screw in it to hold it all together as mine broke.
