looking to buy a Noble things to look for

Good afternoon
I have always wanted to own a Noble and the time has come that I am in the position to buy.
I know some of the mods that are almost essential tunnel mod, twin fan and track day sump. What other things should I also be looking out for.
Any help, advice would be greatly appriciated. I would prefer a GTO 3 or 3r but if the right GTO came up I would be interested.

When through the buying process myself a couple of months ago. Look at as many cars as practical ,buy on condition and budget for a bit of a spend after buying .
I have had loads of cars many specialist but the Noble is one of the hardest to assess IMO. Good luck with the search and enjoy.

Thank you to the both of you it's really appreciated just got to wait for a few to come up with a good spec then go and have a real look over them.
From what you have said aim for a nice GTO 3R as that has everything needed. If a well spec'd GTO 3 comes up with 6 speed box, LSD and few other bits come up I will loom also.
Anything further advice warmly welcomed.

Whether a GTO, GTO3, 3R or 400 the cars are all over 10 years old now, and I highly doubt there's a factory original one left now. If there is, it won't have been used much because the factory original cars, in my opinion weren't up to it. Most people will have fixed and upgraded and strengthened so really just buy on condition and spec. There are 2.5s out there with the spec nearing an M400, there are modified monsters with 500,600,700bhp. There are still a few unknown unmodified (unfixed, as I call it) examples. Go and look at as many cars as you can and find the one you like and that feels right.
We all know the main things to look out for and fix, most cars will have these now but Nobles are inventive little buggers and as said they're all over a decade old now so just budget for a bit of tinkering and you'll be happy. They can be used for mundane, everyday tasks and it's often quite fun (that budget celebrity feeling
to but I'd suggest running a second car to a) keep the noble feeling that bit more special b) not do unnecessarily small journeys on an engine that likes should be warmed up and cooled down properly. c)they're fairly hideously impractical. Yes you can do silly things like put a deconstructed bike in the passenger seat or do the odd bit of shopping but they have a very specific purpose and that purpose isn't load lugging.

I think you'll find there are quite a few. Interesting comment - what is it you think is inferior in what the factory produced?Diff, cooling, the original ECU noble replaced themselves, various parts of the wiring loom, sump, hub nuts! All things we know to do, I wouldn't want a car that hadn't had some of these at least looked at. Unfortunately I bought exactly that and then spent half the cost of the car again making it "right"

Are you thinking only of cars that will be tracked then? If so yes, you'll need a track day dump, otherwise not. Ecu (and loom) yes, if you are talking about a very early 2.5. Otherwise I can't agree and feel you are unfairly dissing a solid and competent product, solely based on your personal experience. All IMHO of course. AMG Merc said:

Ok yes, technically a Noble only needs a track sump if it's taken on a track, but people also need to realise how literal that is and that just because they look like a hardcore track car, you shouldn't even be tempted into a training day, they're simply too capable at pulling lateral G than their bottom ends can cope with.

Sorry didn't want to start an argument. I will look at them over the summer but they are very few and far between atm as you all know due to the summer almost on our door step. Least that gives me time to have a good look at a few and then aim to buy late summer. I wouldn't never fun the noble as my sole car it would be in the garage and used weekend and nice weather.

What are you going to use the car for? I've got an early GTO3, factory fan upgrade, fuel pump mod, track sump, Porsche nuts, yellowshed remap and that's it.
It been 100% reliable but mine has an easy summer road life with a euro road trip etc throw in, 20k fantastic miles with me. I'd buy an original as possible car with as much history as possible, if you are after a track car then its a real compromise which can cost some serious money to keep up together.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to buy a car with a great big wing on the back, but not take it on track where its natural home is, but each to their own.
IMHO, these cars tick so many boxes. Track toy, but you can take it away for the weekend. Use in the wet. Take it to car-shows. Commute on a sunny Friday.
Not an everyday car, but it is a real head turner. Get used to thumbs-ups from pedestrians, flashes from other car drivers (and not because there's a speed trap or a horse around the corner - happened twice on the way home this evening) and little kids mouthing "wow".
The question you will be asked when parked up is "Is it great on track?". Sad if you have to answer, "don't know, I don't want stone chips on my front clam".
