Did you have to extend the heater cables, if so what did you use? mine are so short it is a huge job just to remove the panel

I bonded a bracket to the inside of the dash that holds the heater controls. You can then take the silver cover off without having to mess about with the controls.
They shouldn't need any more length to drop them down a little.

Plans:
Build a garage/barn so it's got a decent home to live in.
Check the front toe in (probably another thread there)
Oil, filters, plugs

The temperature cable on mine is so short it doesn't even quite get to the standard position it is about 2mm short.

Mine too. Blue one right? When I removed the centre console I barely had enough room to look behind and remove the bolts holding the heater controls to the panel. I'd be interested in hearing how to extend the cables too.

I had enough room to pull the panel about an iPhone's width and get to the nuts that hold the controls on, so moving it lower on the console wasn't too much of a stretch.

Either way, once you remove the console, you can get to the cables pretty easily to replace/extend if necessary.

The hardest part was getting the vents plumbed, since there's very little space to add a Y-adapter.

New pics this week, another go at the classifieds but it's looking like outright storage until April and then see if the start of spring/summer shows any more interest.

I might start advertising it as a 3R, get people to come and look at it, realise how much they love it and then tell them it's actually a 2.5 and drop the price right at the end of the test drive.

I'd continue advertising it, the market for buying them is not the same as the season for driving them. Plenty of cars sell in the winter, it often depends on when the buyer sells their previous car. Nice quality pics, a clean engine bay and the right price and she'll sell..... maybe advertise as "perfectly updated Noble M12GTO"
Good luck

I find it amazing these 2.5 cars don't sell easily. Especially given how rare they are, surely they should be appreciating rapidly, look at Porsch 996 turbo's and M coupe's!

I am going to put my foot in it and say as a recent purchaser the 2.5 is somewhat daunting as compared to the later cars. If you have experience and knowledge about cars then the 2.5 might seem manageable, but if you don't then your instinct is that they will be more work and less reliable (you do read more about the 2.5 in this regard). As a rooky (and not that knowledgeable about cars), the Noble is somewhat daunting anyway, and I think that is why you get so many posts about people procrastinating when looking to buy one or looking for that 'perfect' example (as I did!). I understand more now, and that all of the required modifications to the 2.5 to overcome any flaws are readily available and known, but still............

Then you have to believe that a complete stranger (the seller) has on the one hand carried out the necessary mods, and correctly.

Before I bought my Noble (a 3R one year ago to the day pretty much), I was really nervous that it would continually throw up problems, that it was a highly specialized machine, more of a track car than a useable road car, that it was complicated, that all that power was bound to continually throw up issues I wouldn't comprehend, so you are looking to get the most sorted car available to circumnavigate these concerns - and the easy default is the latest version possible.

In the event, the above are natural concerns but actually the car is not a highly strung thoroughbred, it actually works very well, and it works very much like any other car. You come to realise the faults such as they are, are not unsurmountable, and how these can be overcome, not by a out and out 'boffin' but my almost anyone with a bit of work, time and help from this forum.

If I was doing the whole buying process all over again, I would not omit the 2.5 but rather embrace it because the car is so very similar to the later models, capable of providing just as many admiring looks, fun and joy of ownership. Furthermore you get an almost identical car for £10,000 less that a slightly modified one in the 3R guise.

If you are looking for a Noble, and they are seemingly getting harder and harder to source, it would in my opinion be disadvantageous to simply rule out the 2.5, rather just do your homework, ask for advice, use this forum. Some members might even know the car that is being sold, many owners, if one lives near you, would more than likely come with you to see a car - that is the friendly nature of the club you are about to join, and makes the ownership of a Noble even more rewarding, regardless of the model you choose.

Very good write up there, mine has been a money pit from day one,to say the least and it's now sitting up at Jetstream after sadly spending thousands on it and more to go, unlucky one I guess. I personally would go for one with slightly higher mileage where lots of work has been carried out, unlike mine with just 28k on the clock. It would be nice to think in time they will be 30k plus for a very nice example 2.5... I can dream I suppose for now.

Thanks for that chaps, keep talking up the 2.5 and we might get somewhere. Anyway I'm back from holidays and in a complete change of tactics Jetstream are now going to tart up the little bits I've missed and handle the sale from now on, so watch the classifieds!

It was only as I was on my home that I realised the drive to Jetstream may very well have been the last time I drive a Noble! Not sure how I feel about that.

Thanks, and it was 95f/35c on Thursday (I'm in Las Vegas). I was out and about driving the car...before the centre vents, I would be sweating with the aircon at full. The additional vents really helped keep me from sweating.

I have ordered gauge surround rings to see how they look in the aircon holes. This will help make that section look better, methinks.
