You may have done this one to death so apologies as I'm new to the noble scene. Under hard acceleration my front end lightens up and I'm presuming this is because the splitter that was originally on the car has been removed. So .. pros and cons of splitters? I'd love to have an original but I'm assuming they're pretty hard to come by .. has anyone else successfully replaced one with something like an original? (GTO 3R)

I thought that the only thing the splitter does, is to make a scraping sound every now And then.

Gibbzy,

The splitter is an aerodynamic piece of magic that, at higher speeds, encourages the air to go over the car, not under.

Below about 100kph, it just scraps on the ground at dips/driveways

I suspect your issue is springs, not splitter

Filling in the front wheel arches helps massively with the front end lift !!! , high tyre pressures can also make the front feel a bit loose !!

If it's happening on the road then you have a mechanical issue as you have to be going a fair speed for aero to be to blame for server lift on hard acceleration.

Check your shocks etc.

But you can buy the standard splitter from a noble dealer, aftermarket carbon ones are also available or make you own as I did :-)
Standard size Splitter is however proven in wind tunnel to do pretty much Bugger all... Needs to be a lot larger but then you can't open the clam fully etc.

Thanks gents a lot to check but it sounds as though a stock splitter isn't the way forward. Tux, interesting re filling in the front wheel arches. Thanks for your help I'll see how I get on .. smile

It does offer some protection to the underside and leading edge of the clam , at least it scrapes the splitter first .

I personally feel it suits the car with it on .

Is the standard 3R splitter removable? I am considering a Noble but my drive will argue with the splitter. I'd just remove the splitter and store it if it provides no real value.

I too have issues with a gradient on my drive, when I had my 3R driving forward into my drive would be ok, any other means meant a lot of scraping!

The OE spltter lip is fairly deep. I’ve skimmed mine and it clears speed humps. Removing it will also work.

Just to add, in the end I added a splitter bought from Jetstream as it made approx 5/6mm difference (guess) to the clam height, protects the clam, the original had it on and finally (in my opinion) the car looks better : ) Whether it helped with the original issue who knows.

I changed mine on both cars for carbon ones from Tuxman, much smaller lip, looks better and less grounding. Easy to unbolt.
