Timed to perfection, god I'm good. That's why I always ask what the method of payment is - I need to make sure payment is collected before it falls down. smashrofl;)

I wouldn't of used any good wood tbh with fancy joints etc, a couple of old pallets, rusty nails and some out of date mastic would be my choice..

Still plenty of interest here wink

FB is a rubbish portal for forums like this. It wasn't designed with this in mind - its aim was a way for spotty people to communicate. Ever since then it's operators have tried to turn it into a commerce site, only with limited success. I find it difficult to search and follow threads so only visit sporadically.

For those that don't know, the main reason there's a Noble "club" over there is because the admin. got barred from here so many times that his name's on the wall in Haymarket Media's lobby laugh

One reason for current versus 10 year ago reduced postings here - apart from the obvious FB defectors - is you have to remember when the Noble was new on the road there was nothing like it and hundreds of Noble owning and general petrolheads visited for info. No they're old the interest is understandably lower.

Admittedly it is a lot quieter here but funny how people from all over the globe visit when they've a problem or can't find a part wink

I agree with You about FB. I find it hard to follow etc. I find if so much easier to navigate my way around here. The way it's set up us much better for me.
But with regards to how busy now versus 10 year ago. If you go back only 2 years ago it was still thriving with activity here. I really think everyone has had enough of the over the top policing.

Thanks for the historical context. I visit regularly but assumed the silence was just seasonal. As I don't do FB, I'll still hope to come here to look out for gatherings and to ask/offer help.

I'm sorry but the Noble community is more vocal than ever, this just isn't the hub anymore. Just look at the fb homepage photo with 77 Nobles at one meet, Nobody organised anything on ph last year.
This forum is a great search history site for answers.

Ive had posts removed from ph when I was trying to organise a meet, just crazy. When I joined (and it was a TVR site) that's what it was designed for.

If I'm honest I didn't post that much on the forum but do find myself drawn to the facebook group due to the easiness to stick a quick query on and be notified when its updated.

I do regularly search old threads, especially of late given the work I am currently doing to the car and information is invaluable which you don't have the benefit of on the facebook group the same.

Not strictly true.

For example the event you refer to above was organised here....

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

(I'm assuming this will be it - despite being on Facebook and joining the FB group I can't find it for the life of me!)

As a couple of others have said, FB is just not as good as a forum - it's great for what it was designed for, but I can't get on with using it instead of PH.

Personal preferences maybe, but I wish FB wasn't killing this forum off - I presume that is why it is quiet here now.

Well if you mean it's the policing of this site then that's just ridiculous. Play by the rules and you'll have no issues. I've been here over 14 years and not even a slapped wrist from the moderators.

Facebook is so far from what it started out being for me that I barely go on it anymore. And nor do most of my friends.

I am contemplating shutting my account as it serves no purpose except that people can find you through google.

An in honour of that thought....I'm going to start a thread on here!

I'm still here and still have my Nob however, I don't think it's just a Noble thing, I find most forums that I frequent have become very unresponsive. Can it all be FB !? I have a theory, we are potentially at an end of an era when owners wanted to be intimate with their cars maintaining, improving, modifying and sharing their experiences. My feeling is people are either locking up their investment because they're to valuable to play with or are just owner drivers that are not interested in getting intemate with their car and like minded enthusiasts, either way no need to go to a forum, unless trying to get some idea of value !. Fortunately, era's are like fashion and hopefully active and useful car forums will become prolific again.

Good to be back and hope you all have a great season.

Well I've never been slapped on the wrist either and I've been here for long enough time - But something is putting people off!! I really don't think its that ridiculous at all. If a few of the big posters here get fed up and stop posting because of over policing etc then it has a knock on effect for the forum, as they were fuelling the conversations. I don't see why you find it that hard to believe.
But that's only my opinion.

When Phil Brett ran the forum it was a busy place with lots of active members , once Phil left and the policing of the forum changed !! This led to warnings and bannings and the inability to be able to run the owners club from Pistonheads .
The Facebook page was setup by 3 off us that were fed up of the restriction rules .
So far we have 350 members and are averaging 3 post a day !! I'm sorry if that's had a effect on this forum it was not our intention but it gave us a forum we could police ourselves !!!!

Ive never once been banned on PH, or even a slap on the wrist... I have however been very vocal here, played by the rules even when I thought they were 'wrong'. I used to make a real effort here to keep people informed as to the developments I or others I knew were doing and to offer help and advice... however I have consciously stopped now because it became unfriendly / negative.
Also at one stage the rules were sporadically enforced, some were allowed to escalate into proper hatred posts etc.. not pleasant.

This is the reason this forum has died, lots of people who have experience and knowledge just don't want to post now

This site is technically better than the FB page, its easier to search and find stuff, you can more easily follow the thread, pics can be commented on easier and its just generally easier on the eye imo...... however FB 100% follows 'our' noble rules, means people can sell stuff (if relevant to nobles), friendly banter is allowed, group buys and market research on what people want is allowed... generally as long as its friendly/respectful and vaguely noble related its allowed.

Thats why it has grown... Phil used to do a great job here, its not easy doing admin on a site full of bantering petrolheads, its a fine balance which he did very well to keep the forum alive.

If this post had been written a couple of years ago I'd have seen it within a few hours at most. It's 5 days old now and I've only just seen it, that's how effective the Facebook group is.
I don't like the way this forum can be accessed by anyone, on Facebook you can't even view posts unless you're a member and have passed the admin's vetting.
