My bad for calling it a forum. But Tux started up a thread directing traffic elsewhere(which PH have said in a refresh of there rules very recently is a no no)! I'm not in favour of all the rules here at all, and I'm not taking sides - I wish the PH would '' Back the truck up''! but their not going to. I'm just trying to point out that other people may have mentioned FB etc in there posts which probable get overlooked or not even spotted by the mods. But when you start up a thread directing people elsewhere Its like a big neon sign for all the mods to see, and its waiting to get deleted.
Like I've already said - I don't agree with it and think that a warning would be better for Tux and PH!
I'm just trying to point out the difference between the posts and where I think the mods might have seen it as crossing the line.

I think the question for PH is Why is such a knowledgeable and passionate forum seeking other channels to communicate?

I think the simple answer is the forum format is due an overhaul. Make it easy to search, integrate Social media (not ignore it) make it a media portal. Make it more of a community again.

Why do people setup facebook groups? it's easier to share pics, respond, comment and connect with other owners/users.

I totally get that PH is a commercial business that needs to create income from its traffic - but it's time to listen to the users and possibly gain more from developing the format.

in fairness the moderation is pretty lenient on here, I don't agree with some of the decisions they make but it is the owners to do with what they like.

I have been on some forums where the policy is one thing out of line and your banned permanently. no argument, no warning and no discussion.

yes agree. It's their bat, ball and playing field. It works fine. If people think FB works as a user group platform then enjoy. As I've said before IMHO it's rubbish for this purpose ( and Haymarket Media isn't paying me smile ).

You can't argue against the fact that the owners of the site may do with it what they wish, but that doesn't diminish criticism that it does not function well or that it is not as attractive or purposeful as it should/could be. People have raised legitimate concerns in my opinion and are disappointed for the reasons stated. In this instance, as someone has already pointed out, Instagram (and I don't think a link was even provided) is primarily a photo hosting site and I am not sure why P/H are worried. In fact if P/H are doing a good job (that is providing what people want and by all accounts seem pleased with) what is there to fear?

It maybe there Bat, Ball and Playing field but it wont be much use to them when they lose all of their users because they seem to have lost sight of what the forums are for! we might not be paying customers but as users we are sort of customers in my eyes. The Forum is built for a purpose, that purpose is for people like us to use. And if the general consensus amongst users is that things are going wrong here Maybe PH should listen. After all as you say its a business, in that case id be looking at this area of the business as starting to fail.

Unless you post a photo of a crashed Noble you've spotted
Yes, that was a little odd. The concern was that with so few cars available, it would soon be back on the road and the owner may not want that kind of information to be public knowledge.
However, it would all be shown on insurance database and HPi - I am sure the owner wouldn't hide the history, so I didn't see it as a problem.
That was purely a timing thing, having smashed up pics of your car immediately posted by passers by without your knowledge or consent was seen by quite a few as insensitive (fine of cause if its your own car).... going on to tell the moderator you didn't care/agree and would post whatever you liked etc etc was only going to end one way smile

No bans were issued or considered and things remained pleasant and thats what the group is all about.

On a different note.... Has Tuxman been let back in yet?

I'll jump in here: Tuxman has received plenty of warnings in his time here - at least two (temporary) bans from the Noble forum before this final permanent one, and at least four other run-ins with the moderation team. Each of these should have acted as a warning shot for him.

Ok fair enough. But whats your take on the fact that people generally think this forum has gone down hill and something isn't working here anymore? And from what others have said its wide spread across the PH forums not just the noble one. The easy way out is just to say its because of competition from other places(I wont mention any names), But I just don't think its the case at all.

Surely the site is funded by commercial advertising revenue? People don't come for the adverts though, they come for the content- which is in no small part generated by the forum users.

Ban everyone from the forums, shut them down, and see how the site footfall drops through the floor....
