All,
We're closer now to having a system that should fit pretty well all cars

Trevor
Does that include the 2.5's ?

Oops, sorry, overstated the "all cars" bit there. The 2.5 cars have different turbo outlet flanges so our system won't currently fit them. Also, it won't fit the US M400 cars owing to their slightly different manifold/turbo combination.

Still waiting for the pre and post M400 data. Will advise as and when we can.

Please re-check the graphs as I screwed up with the wheel power curves (doesn't affect the flywheel power) on those graphs, but have now corrected them. Hopefully, Phil will update the links.

All,
Mark has his car (at last - sorry for the delay!) and I hope he's happy!

Trevor

Thanks -- I do and so far so good... and heres some feedback from the 130 miles since I collected yesterday (all seat of the pants dyno special):

1) Low RPM it feels like it will pull a small building -- from 1.5K onwards it does seem stronger

2) The top end 4K+ feels quite alot stronger -- if fact at full bore its significantly better maybe also because of (3)

3) It seems to spin up / breath much more freely (maybe that cat problem did not help?) -- most noticable trying to keep it in a straight line today

4) The noise -- especially around suffolk streets today -- mucho fun -- its actually set a few "parked car" alarms off ... much deeper note and generally more "meaningful" -- at idle it is about the same as before (thanks Missus Clark) -- but on the open road from 2K onwards it is louder and much deeper note and thankfully much more menacing :-)

Will ring with the service book when next driving by(ish).

Thanks for you/the Roush teams efforts

Cheers Mark

ps; Bridgestone are taking that rear away for inspection and are fitting a replacement FOC next week.

Mark,

Glad you're happy. Makes the effort seem worth it!!!

Kevin should also be his car with the system on within a week, hopefully!

Then the production systems will start rolling in next week, too. Guy, Dave, I expect your systems to be ready for shipping next week. I'll be in touch.

Right update time. Here's the links to the latest power curves. If anyones still seeing old ones it must be due to caching your end. Also some new pics of the component parts.

All,

For those that wanted to know:

Received the quote to have the exhaust ceramic coated, and for the front cat, cat replacement pipe, front link pipe, rear cat, rear cat replacement pipe and rear horseshoe, the cost would be £200 + VaT.

Is it worth it to have it ceramic coated?

Trevor - any noise readings yet or any data from M400?
Thx. Rob

We really should have scrounged a sound meter for the Finchingield meet up (doh).

Mark is there any chance that you or Trevor could get it checked out, say a static test of 0.5m distance, 45 degrees from the tail pipe @ 4500 rpm? If the dB level is low enough I'd go for it (ceramic coated and all).

Regards

Richard -- I've gotta pop back with the service book to see Trevor at some point in the next few weeks -- if he has the means I guess we could do it then ? Trevor ?

All,

Sorry for the delay in updating you regarding the latest info on the exhausts.

We do have a noise meter now, so Mark, if you want to drop by, we can measure the noise of the system on your car.

Regarding testing an M400 with our exhaust. We base-lined one car which, during the base-lining, was found to have multiple issues including fuel pressure and consequent lean running under boost. So we organised for another car to test, and once again, observed lean conditions under boost - again down to fuel pressure.

After installing new wiring and a relay for the fuel pump, we re-tested and saw a good 430bhp and 390lbft torque. Thus the gains are not as significant as on the 3R and we don't have a true back-to-back again (why is it that none of this well planned testing goes according to that plan?).

That may be disappointing to some, but remember, power was not a goal for this exhaust. Also, remember that the M400 is more finely tuned to start with, and nearer the limits for the engine, so the gains will be less. As a point of interest, it was during the M400 testing that I noticed no discernable power gains when testing with a cat-free factory exhaust system.

What it does mean, though, is that we will only sell this exhaust with a fuel pump solution and we're working on the most cost-effective way of doing that.

I have emailed Phil Brett once again with a power curve for all to study.

The exhausts are now in stock and we can start shipping.......

Thanks Trevor - just to clarify, for the 3R you're recommending the exhaust + M400 fuel pump and for the M400, exhaust + rewiring and relay?
Sorry for being so thick!

Robp,

Right now, we're even considering better pump for both and the wiring mod, too. It depends a bit on the pricing of the parts etc.

I'll post as soon as we have decided. Remember, we just trying to improve the durability and reliability of the car.

Absolutely - lean running under boost does not sound like a recipe for engine longevity. Don't suppose it's great for cats either. Is this likely to be just co-incidental on 2 cars - or a generic issue for M400s?

Just what I was thinking Rob Disturbing number of cars coming up lean for my liking.

Trevor, are you running these cars on a rolling road at your place? Thinking I might be coming in for a fuelling health check?!
