Gearchanges - Noble vs. Smart
Discussion
I've not really had a problem going up the gearbox, I tend to find that dropping out of top into 4th can be a slow process. You almost have to deselect 5th and then deliberatly go in search of 4th as a seperate operation. I can't seem to make a quick/smooth operation out of it. It can be frustrating when you decide you need to "teach someone a lesson".
I think the tension to return the gearstick to the central position (between 3rd and 4th position) needs to be increased when in the right-hand/neutral position (below 5th position) - if you get what I mean. When you deselect 5th, the gearstick doesn't seem to central itself terribly well without some minor adjustment from myself.
Don't know about you, but it could just be my car. I'll have another look at this when I get my car back next week. Apparently the new gearbox is going in as I type.

Erm .... because my one is shagged! You don't recall the thread I started, titled "My Weekend of Hell"?
I was trying to empart my experiences of a buggered gearbox when the thread was hijacked by a Porsche v Noble debate which then turned to toasters and kettles .... such quality contributions to the topic of Noble ownership.
Apparently a new gearbox is being fitted today and I should have the car back early next week. By all accounts, on inspection of the old gearbox it contained what can only be described as a "lucky bag" of small metallic parts.
In the meantime, I have been imasculated by having to drive a "Smart" by way of a courtesy car.
