Has anyone fitted a Variable EXHAUST switch system like the Porsche, so you can change the amount of exhaust loudness from the drivers seat?:-)
If so, please can you give me details or any ideas where I may be able to get one (or two made) :-)

Its really quiet anyway due to the two rotary silencers. Are you sure it will make any difference?

Yes it should do, idea being to increase loudness/throatie sound like a straight through if you want to hear a great sound and then being able to silence her down if you want a quite run. ( Porsche have a factory option for them)

Looking at the Porsche system and the Noble one you would need to make quite a few mods to get it to work.

Demon Tweeks sell the kits for this sort of thing, but I would speak to a local exhaust specialist about how/where it will fit before spending my monet with DT.

you can buy a solenoid that will bypass your exhaust and vent it to atmosphere !

its basically a 12v solenoid that opens a flap

you could try an exhaust brake flap from a truck

As sensitive as the Nobles are to changes in the exhaust, I'm not sure this would be smart. The ECU couldn't adapt so you'd be lean and/or rich depending on the exhaust config and map.

Watch out for lack of backpressure there. Caused my turbos to spit out a load of oil with the silencer off for about a week or two. Would be interesting though.....

P.S. It was bloody bloody bloody loud as well. Sounded like a jet fighter at 3K+ revs.

that oil thing is strange. alot of the rear mount guys in the states have about a foot long pipe after the trubo and thats it!! never ehard of any problems with seals for them (apart from when they cant get the oil back to the engine but thats a diffrent problem).

it should make the trubos spool faster, reduce spool times (although i have heard things that go angainst this theory) and make more power/torque.

It only happened once but it scared me enough to stick the silencer back on.

Certainly felt quicker, but I don't know if that was psychological biggrin.

I cant see the exhaust causing your turbo to chuck out oil.... if it was then more likelly it still is but is being caught by the silencers now.

This sounds very interesting thanks. Can you tell me more as i understand what you say but can't imagine how the pipe work would go and could it be variable?

When you arrive at a track day at a low noise level track (eg: Goodwood) - set switch to quiet-mode! Switch back to noisey-git mode on leaving!wink

Good luck with it.Just because others haven't done it doesn't mean it's not a good idea.Works particuarly well on the Monaros for track days, long runs and early morning starts in quiet neighbourhoods.Let me know how it goes, privately if you can't be arsed with the negativity.
